This used to work properly, but no longer does...
I have my Events module set to show past events up to 5 days after their start date.
Right now in my events page https://fotmd.com/event , I have the Hindman event at top showing properly (it's start date was April 8 and today is the 11)
However, on my site's Home page in the Events widget (called Coming Events), that Hindman event disappeared right on April 8, and it should not have disappeared for another 5 days.
I don't see any JrEvent... modified templates in my custom active skin, but not sure where else to look.

I have another question on how to modify these showing choices, but first I need to fix this little glitch. Thanks
So, not sure why that has stopped working.

I've fixed this up for you.
When the 'show past events' options were updated some time ago, default template were updated not to check for the original 'on/off only' option as this was now all automatic within the module. There was some code in your skin's index.tpl template still trying to do it the old way.
That template has been updated in your ACP skin template section.

Thanks Paul, working now. :)
Tell me- I see your edits, but not sure which is your NEWER edited version when I 'compare' them ?:
mdFOTMD_June15_2020/index.tpl (custom) (where some code is removed near lines 518 and 520) or
mdFOTMD_June15_2020/index.tpl (1.0.11) (where there is additional lines of code there)

I ask this so i can go apply the same tweak to my other JR site.
I'm thinking the (custom) version in the Compare view is the newer version you just tweaked, but want to be sure.
That template in my skin seems to be the only place where you changed something, correct?

Thanks, I will do the same on my other site then. :)

I do have another question about this 'showing' function in the Events module. I may have brought this up a few years ago, but am hoping it can be adjusted fairly easily-
In my attached image, our choices for keeping Events visible for "x" amount of time after their START date are not very practical or useable in my typical site situations...
I get choices of 30 min, 45 min, 1, 2, 3 hours, 1 day, up to at most 5 days after START date of an event.
On my dulcimer musician site, most of our Events are music festivals or music camps- many of which are big events with hundreds of people attending workshops and or camping for a weekend and often a whole week. Lots of our members hold discussions in the event about accommodations, what classes to take, sharing rides, who's going, what to bring, etc etc. They also like to follow up after the event for a few days about what a good time they had. As it is now, if a festival lasts a week, it will simply DISAPPEAR 5 days into it, taking all its discussions with it... which is not good at all on my site. :(
My choice then comes down to having ALL events past and present showing for all time (always a disaster for my sites), OR having many of the longer events mysteriously disappear before they are even over.

Frankly, I don't need all those gazillion choices there now for 3 hrs, 4 hrs, 5 hrs,... What I really would find useful is a choice to show the event for x days after its END date... but I seem to recall this was asked for by me and another person a while back and it was not easily do-able.
Sooooo.... maybe instead I can get a LONGER span that would be sure to enable a week long festival to keeping showing on the home page events widget for up to 5 days after it ends- which in the case of a week festival, would be 12 days.
I would love to be able to have much more useful choices of something like the following instead of what's there now:
Show past events for ____ time after start date... with the choices being:
1 hour
3 hrs
8 hrs
12 hrs
1 day
2 days
4 days
6 days
9 days
12 days
15 days.
That would be something i could really use!

Is there a quick template location where I can edit these time choices myself, or does it need doing by a universal module change? Or is it too much trouble? I realize not everyone needs the same thing, but this seems to me kinda logical since so many events are longer than a day and get talked about for a few days after they are over as well.
Thanks for taking the time to consider this.

The original module update to continue showing events after the start time was for users who might still be traveling to the event, so it was only for an hour or two. It then got extended to days, probably as a result of your request? Can't remember :-) So its easy to extend that by a few more days, as you request, but that would need to be done within the module. There isn't a template for it.

As you suggest, ideally, this would be an option per event but that isn't compliant with the way Jamroom works as searching and listing of events would be compromised. I'll get the module updated with the extra days you ask for.

Thanks

Really?! You are a real champ Paul! Yaaaaaayyyy!
Yeah I think the module was set up with 1 night concerts in mind, not week-long festivals.
This is actually a big improvement for my site, even though it may not seem like anything important.
Thank you!!

I've added these extra options to your fotmd site.
Let me know if it works ok prior to me updating and releasing the module.
Thanks

Paul, i did some tests and what you did seems to be working great! You can release the hounds now... oops I mean module. :D
I set my FOTMD site to show events for 10 days past their start date- that enables event participants to continue exchanging info and discussion both during and also for a few days after a week-long music camp or festival.
This is a real useful improvement. Marking this 'solved'.
Thanks so much!
