cometchat issues (with module and company)

1st off, I bought cometchat when i 1st came to jamroom. i bought the premium addition using the "1 time payment" option.
over the past few years cometchat would stop working from time to time
they always fixed it, without a fuss or any extra fees

then jamroom added the jamroom cometchat module. wich i believe i had to pay for in addition to paying for the chat

now the other day it stopped again (it appears for a split second then vanishes console shows this :)
Use of getPreventDefault() is deprecated.  Use defaultPrevented instead. cometchatjs.php:3:38987

so once again i contacted them to fix it
now they are telling me the '1 time payment' has expired, and i have to pay again (1/2 the original price) for a liscence renewal that will expire again in a year.

for several years there was no license expired issue they just provided support

so. i feel like i bought 2 licensees, 1 cometchat (prior to the jr module) and then the jr module
and i had never had any liscence expired issues, nor problems getting support. untill now

has anyone else had this issue with cometchat/ (script or company)

jr crew
they said 'upgrading to the new version will fix it' so does the module need to be upgraded?
is that console message a clue to whats going on?
is it something i can fix myself ?

Just to be clear, we never added the ‘CometChat Module. That is a product they developed and market themselves. We added our own SimpleChat module.
I therefore suggest that any CC issues need to be taken up with them directly.

i have taken it up with them directly. i'm just relaying the experience i had
after several years using it under the '1 time payment' model suddenly they are expecting another 125 dollars as a renewal/ which again says 1 time payment, but expires again in a year (apparently)

after pointing out the fact that 1 time payment means the liscence doesn't expire..ever.. they turned it over to the senior support team and hopefully will get it fixed
its kinda the same 2 issues that happen once or twice a year

250 or whatever i paid is pretty expensive for a chat. but i figured if its a 1 time payment and i got years of use out of it it was ok
but suddenly they changed the definition of 1 time payment
