Is this Possible? - Email notification if a link added to a photo

Hi All, The amazing Jamroom guys helped us with a feature on pmp-art.com whereby if an image link was added to a comment on a photo, a thumbnail of the linked image appeared under that photo. Which may seem odd but we are an art site where members paint pictures based on source photos. It very cleverly used the 'media url scanner'. My understanding is limited! Would it be possible to have an automatic notification sent to a photographer if a link to their gallery is inserted in an Image Caption?
This would be very useful as at present photographers do not always know when an artist has used one of their photos as a basis for an artwork. We do encourage them to comment to the photographers photo, but they often forget! Any ideas appreciated as this would be another great enhancement to engagement on the site.

I'm not sure what was done to enable this feature on your site - I think it was Michael that did it? - but to send an email to the photographer would almost certainly need a custom module, I guess.
I'll raise this with Michael.

What paul said. All I did was turn on the Media Url Scanner because it was the simplest way to get what you already had: "when an artist paints the picture, they add the link to the picture in a text area".

With the Media URL Scanner turned on that link was enhanced.

The next evolution would be INSTEAD of having that link pasted into a text area, a module that allowed the artist to SELECT the picture it came from during the creation form. THAT would allow the artist to be notified when it was created.

As it is right now it is possible to add a listener that searches for a URL in the text, but it would be fragile and probably send out false positives because it would need to do a lot of determining to figure out if the link in the text area was a link to an original image, or just any old other regular link. Think that way would require constant maintenance to keep it working.
