completed Timeline entry pruning... ?

I notice in the Help section of the Timeline modules 'general settings', it says this (see screenshot):
"NOTE: Timeline entries that are manually created by users are never deleted. "

I have a member who posted a bunch of large jpgs in their profile timeline, and there may be others who have done this in the past while I did not notice. I have since removed the links where members could post in timelines... but that did not retroactively remove older entries posted before I removed the entryways.

Question: Does this Help statement mean those timeline entries and their files are going stay on my server and take up space for all eternity? I have the Timeline module's "prune system entries" set for 120 days... but are these profile entries created by users immune to that pruning and remain forever? =8-(
...If so, is there a way for me to FIND those entries and perhaps eventually delete the really old ones?

Thanks... :)

So how did they upload a large image file to a timeline entry? Can you point me to one of them?

Paul, that was all described and linked in the beginning of this other thread:
https://www.jamroom.net/the-jamroom-network/forum/new_posts/53842/how-to-limit-size-number-of-profile-timeline-images
...but as per the solution at the end of that thread, I've now I believe eliminated any FUTURE instances from occurring... unless someone posts more to the same link that that guy added his jpgs to in his timeline. FWIW, I have deleted 2/3 of his embedded jps from that line of comments he made in his timeline. There were like 6 or 7 others there as well that he uploaded there.
I'm just wondering now if other timeline embeds from years past will be forever stuck on my server instead of being pruned out.

OK - It looks like these are 'comment attachments'. I was confused when you called them Timeline items as you cannot attach files to timeline entries - that's why I was asking you to point me to one so that I could work it out !!
This being the case, the Timeline prune option will have no effect and I think you'll need something custom to identify any old ones on your site.

Ok, understood Paul.
So... first I would say that I doubt very much that I have enough of these items to make it worthwhile creating something custom to hunt them down. Let's not bother with that.

Where that leaves me is here:
1) I don't seem to understand what a "timeline entry that is manually created by a user" actually IS, then... can you help me understand?
and
2) if it's true that: "Timeline entries that are manually created by users are never deleted. "... then how does that effect me in terms of server space or clutter that accumulates? Is it that there are actually no files or attachments involved in such entries anyway? Again, maybe I'm just not understanding what such entries 'are'.

A "timeline entry that is manually created by a user" is most likely just a text entry created by a user as a 'status update' (equivilent to a Tweet !!). As such it propably has little impact on server space, when compared image or media files.
Of course, as with all things in Jamroom, it is possible to remove old status updates, if need be, with a simple custom module.

My only worry would be if they could attach or embed files into their 'status updates', thus taking up server space forever. But you say one CANNOT attach or embed files (images, documents, MP3s, etc) into status updates.... they consist of only text? If that's true, then I shouldn't be worrying about any accumulation that would take up lots of space.... right? If that's so, then this thread can be marked 'completed'. :)

If you were using the editor in the timeline then the user would have access to the Embed Media button and could use the Image Upload button to upload images to their timeline which would be as heavy as an image is, so could take up some space. But you've turned off the editor and the textarea too from the timeline, so no editor, no images.

Yes I recently turned OFF the editor in the Timeline module ...once I realized some members were posting large jpgs in their timelines (that were not being limited by the image size limits I had in place for members in my Image Support module). But yes now that i've even removed the text/comment input ability from Timelines, shouldn't be a problem going into the future now.

I was just wondering if after the recent JR updates if it was still true that "Timeline entries that are manually created by users are never deleted."... and if that meant that any entries posted in the past would always remain on my server. I suppose if the profile/user were deleted sometime in the future though, and their content was removed- that would delete the entries, correct?

Timeline entries manually created are still never deleted in normal circumstances, but deleting a profile will delete its entries.
