Had a question Brought to me about having auto scroll on Chat for some Reason Chat freezes and people loose track or in some cases think That NO one is conversing until That user types then it will scroll to next which Then conversation is Over

I believe every time you update the chat module, you and your users should clear your browser cache, you may want to add that to your sites FAQ or something like that.

I'm not seeing that issue on my end.

well what it is i think is where people come on to the site they sit and listen to the radio shows and periodically engage in the chat. I have noticed myself if you keep talking in chat it keeps scrolling with the feed but if you stop the chat idles at some point and waits for you to type again once you hit enter it scrolls down fast to where the chat has come to in realtime. I told them this was probably done on purpose to save memory or something i dont know?

I see it occasionally it will get stuck, then I type something and it will all come back again.

Usually its fine. Seams to happen if I have many tabs all with chat open on them and I switch to one I havent used in a while.

Try popping out the chat to its own tab, see if that helps.

And yes - this is done for performance reasons. Chat "knows" when you're active in chat and will update it more frequently. As you move off and do other things it has a progressive back off algorithm that comes into play. So occasionally you may see it "fill in" a bunch of messages, since at it's farthest back off point it is only checking every 30 seconds.

cool, yeah its not a big deal really i just tell them keep chatting then hahahhah thats what chat is for not to just read other peoples convos lmao
