solved Invitations module does not have documentation

I have Invitations module installed, and can find the form for sending invitations under my profile name in a tab called "Your invitations".

I cannot find any Documentation about this module. The module button for this leads to a page not found message.

It is not clear that inviting someone to "Your profile" means make a "Friend" request. I assume this is the case. If so, then the following message might be a good template:

***Invitation to my Profile****
Hi...

Please "follow" me, then we can correspond using private notes from inside [Site name] (see "private notes" under your own name in the site menu). To send each other notes, we should use the @(your username) and @(my username) tags to identify the recipient.

Thanks

It doesn't invite people to follow a profile:

¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Education, learning resources, TEL, AR/VR/MR, CC licensed content, panoramas, interactive narrative, sectional modules (like jrDocs), lunch at Uni of Bristol. Get in touch if you share my current interests or can suggest better :)

We'll get some documentation up for this in the near future.
All the module does is invite users to a page. Iirc that can be a profile or an item (please come to my gig, please listen to my tracks). You can add your own message to the invite.

Thanks.

So it is just to say, "come and look".

i.e. There is no redirection to a specific action like joining a group, following, etc.

The function is useful and simple, but does need to be explained!

"Invitations" in Ning directed people to the main Sign up page.

..and the ning signup page...is just a page URL from your site.
The Jamroom invitation is a little more flexible, in that you can have it direct people to any page you want, including your sign up page.

Hi - this thread seems to be concerned with two different issues:

1. JR invitations module used to invite followers (existing network members) to view site content that has been provided by the person making the invitation.

2. Inviting people who are not network members to join the network.

I do not see anything in the JR Invitations module that allows non-members to be directed to a sign-up page.

This threads topic is "Invitations module does not have documentation". Thats been sorted out, so its best to open a new thread with different questions. Helps people searching find the thing they are searching for. :)

There is no system in Jamroom that allows you to send out emails to non-members. Sounds like you're wanting to paste a list of email addresses in and send out emails to them. Very few companies allow that because of spam concerns. If your server gets tagged as a spamming server you'll find it hard to send legitimate email.
