I am using the User Birthday Module on my site but it is not displaying. I activated it yesterday and set it to search one day ahead. I was not concerned when it didnt display yesterday because I assumed I had to wait until it had retreived some data before it appeared but it has now been 24 hours and still nothing. It is located at the bottom of the right hand column on the home page (although it is entirely invisible). Did I do something wrong or is this a bug?

Cheers

Ceri

You'll want to set the birthday in the users account settings.

Hope this helps!

I'm sorry but I dont understand the reply. Do you mean that I need to do something on all user accounts pages? If so what? Birthdays are listed on the vast majority of accounts.

After installing and activating the Birthday module, you'll get new form fields in the user account settings to add the Birth Date for the user, if that is not set, by the user, then it will not show on the profile page. You may even need to add the variable to the profile templates as I don't think it is on every skin. The jrFollowMe skin has it but not the rest of the skins as far as I'm aware of.

Hope this helps!

I am using the Ningja skin and the birthdates were all imported from Ning. There is also a signup question for this . I have a b'day module already which was coded by Paul about 6 months ago and it works perfectly so I dont understand why the official module doesnt work at all. I guess I can continue to use what I already have but I wanted to compare my current setup witrh the official module and see which worked better/looked better etc.

The New birthday module is a not a ning import module - it is it's own code base that I'm certain works differently than your custom module - just don't use the new one if it doesn't work for your site.

Yeah, you have a different setup for the birthdays from Ning, you may want to keep that instead of using the new Birthday module.

I can help with this one! (Maybe).

After installing and activating the birthday feature,
I went to the settings on my profile page and edited my settings...

I saw the option to enter my birthday (month and day only... nice!) there.

I assume that once activated, when that birthday comes, we'll see something else somewhere... I'm not sure where?

... only on profile page? a notification on home page?

That I have not tested yet (on my list).

Hope this helps... each profile will have to 'trigger' the birthday feature by filling in their birth month and day.

From the module description:
Quote:
The User Birthday module adds a custom form field into the User Account form so a user can enter their birthday (day and month only). On their birthday an "It's your birthday" entry will be created in their timeline, with a feature that allows their followers to wish them a Happy Birthday.

I don't see the birthday module in the network market (logged in), and nothing is returned when I search for "birthday".

No issues here - make sure you've subscribed to the Jamroom 6 Beta channel on the site. I just tested from one of my "live" sites and I see it.

Ceri - User birthdays were imported in a format not compatible with the new Birthday module. I have added a tool to the latest NingImport module to convert the formats but its not been tried on a live site yet (only on my dev site with a few birthday entries). If you can ticket me your admin login I'd like to check your database to make sure this will work on an import done long ago.
Note that if we do go ahead and run it, I would likely need to update what I did for you wrt birthday display if you still wanted to use that (tbh I can't remember what I did!! Was it a module or just template code? If I can onto your site I can check and be reminded of it!!).
Thanks
Pa
