solved Private group (puzzle: member cannot edit posts)

We are still in developer mode.

We created a new private group here in JamRoom and have 3 members.
Two of the members are master admins, the third is a 'standard' user.

This third member can add new discussions, reply to comments: no problem.

But this same member cannot EDIT any of her posts. (she sees ONLY the RSS and 'follow' icons)

I'm not finding anything in the ACP or documentation or here in this forum to help me with this.

Surely private group members should be able to edit the posts they add?

What am I not thinking of/about to rectify this?

Thank you ~

Master admins, of course, see this option. What am I doing wrong / Where do I go to correct this?

*Note: When this third member joined, I had the settings at 'allowed'. [Not sure if that could possibly have any bearing?].

Not seeing any issues with this here.

my admin user created a group, a standard user with the 'can create discussions' permission added a discussion. then edited the discussion, then commented on the discussion, then edited the comment on the discussion.

Interesting. So maybe I should put in a support ticket?
It is not working for this member.

I'll test it with my 'alter ego'/standard user self's account, too. My other self just requested to join a private group, my admin self approved 'me', and then my other self posted and was able to edit that post. Yup. That works fine.

So it's just a problem in this one instance. I'll ask that person to try joining another private group, and see if her problem replicates in that group, too.

Let me ask this question here, though, in case it helps others (in this or similar situations).

If I 'delete' this member from our private group, change the settings to allow requests to join, and invite her to join the group again, (to see if this might fix the challenge/problem), would her existing posts return along with her?

Would we lose her posts and replies if she 'leaves' the group and then comes back?

Thanks,
Holly

Be sure to ask her what kind of device she is using when trying to edit her posts- ipad? phone? desktop? laptop? and what browser.

You would not loose her posts. Posts are not deleted if the member leaves.

Awesome! It worked! I changed her membership settings in the private group, which reverted her to pending. Then I approved her again (changed her to active and with option to be able to add pages, add discussions).

Voila! Dilemma no more! She does now see the little 'gearshift' icon, and can edit her posts.

Thank you. This may be closed.
