Perhaps I am missing something but I can't find a way to message all the members in a group?

You're not missing anything, there has never been a way to message group members. HOWEVER, we have just developed a new 'addon' group module, GroupMailer, that adds this feature and allows group owners to mail/notifiy all members. We'll get this released next week after some final testing.

Awesome!!!! JR Team strikes again!!

Hmm..I don't suppose we will have the setting to allow us to set groups individually to allow this or not- since though I 'own'/created most of my site's groups, there are a couple of group owners that I wouldn't necessarily want to give that power to. Is it possible to incorporate the ability to set it for each group individually?
We had this in Ning2, fwiw, but it was "Allow a group member to send message to all group members". But that obviously presented some problems concerning self-promotion on the sly, but now we'll keep that in check mostly by allowing this ability for group OWNERS only.
If not, no biggie- I suppose I could just JOIN all the groups owned by members other than myself, so that i would be aware of receiving any 'messages to group'.
Another thought- will this new feature allow us site admins or the site OWNER to send a message to all members of a group as well?- or do I actually have to be the group owner to do that?
--This is terrific news Paul- so glad you guys created this for us!

This is excellent news!
There is a related feature Request about targetting newsletters: https://www.jamroom.net/the-jamroom-network/tracker/1028/add-profile-and-user-targetting-rules-to-email-newsletters
This new facility will provide a significant part of that for us.

@strumelia - The GroupMailer module allows group owners (profiles) to notify their group members on a 'per group' level. It is also quota driven, so if you don't want to give this feature so some of your members, put them in a seperate quota with this module disabled.

So Paul, would this then work?:
if I only want this function available in those groups owned by myself or my profile-admins, I can then activate the module for those quotas only, and the result would be that for any groups owned by 'regular' quota members, those group owners would not have the ability to message all group members on their own...correct? And if I wanted 'some' of them to be able to do that, I'd clone their existing quota and give it a new name, and activate the group message for it, ...do I have that right?
thanks!

Well hardly, but thank you Michael! I literally bumble my way along, learning a bit here and there as I go.
I think the smartest thing I do is ...try real hard not to mess up my own site. Not exactly genius material, but a good practical goal. lol! ;D
