solved Emails for forum updates

I've noticed that I'm not getting emails to let me know when someone responds to my forum posts or to a forum topic that I've posted on. So, I have to remember what I've posted, or click on My Posts, and go back to check to see if there is a response or new entries. I have my notifications set to email me when "forum updated" but it isn't working. Is there something I don't understand about how this is supposed to work?

You will receive notification when someone creates a new forum topic.

Click the topic notification button (to the right of the topic title) to get notified of replies.

The topic notification button was clicked on here, but I didn't get an email to tell me you had responded there Ultrajam. I just happened to notice there was another post on the list, and checked it.

I've just turned on topic notification for this thread, so post a response and I'll see if I get a notification.

Okay, here's a response. I've checked my other threads to make sure it's turned on, and it is, but I'm not getting any emails about new posts. Like, I didn't get one for what you just posted above.

I just received an email to say you replied.

Do you receive other emails from jamroom.net?

Check that the email address you have entered for jamroom.net is the one you are expecting to receive things on. Also check your spam rules and filters.

Try another email address and see if you receive them there.

I checked my SPAM settings at my email provider, and they are turned off. I have now turned off my virus protection to see if that's the culprit. Please respond to this.

Okay, turning off Virus protection didn't do it. I changed the email address. Please respond again. By the way, I did get my invoice from Talldude Networks a few minutes ago at the old email address.

Dave - do you have a non-comcast email address? Looks like our email is being blocked:

Failed: support@jamroom.net → xxxxxxxxx@comcast.net '[Jamroom] New Reply: Emails for forum updates' Server response: 554 554 resimta-po-25v.sys.comcast.net comcast 184.173.153.43 Comcast block for spam. Please see http://postmaster.comcast.net/smtp-error-codes.php#BL000000

I'll contact Mailgun about this as it's actually a block happening at the IP level - not at the Jamroom.net level.

But for now I would recommend updating your account to a NON comcast address. To be honest this has happened 3 - 4 times over the last year or so - ONLY with comcast, so they have some issues with their email servers.

No, I don't have any non-Comcast address to use. Just out of curiosity, does the Talldude Networks use a different emailing system since that does work?

No - we use Mailgun for everything. The email you got earlier with your Hosting invoice was sent by Stripe - not by us.

If you have no other address then you will not receive updates from the site until the block is removed - just an FYI.

I don't think I'm getting notifications any more, noticed it a few days ago. I've checked spam filters, but nothing from jamroom.net in them.

I still get marketplace update emails, but nothing from the forum here.

Looks like your mail server is down or is having issues - we are sending to you but only getting errors:

Quote:
Will retry in 14400 seconds: (our support email) → (your email) '[Jamroom] New Reply: Will a ujGooglemaps map appear in a SiteBuilder panel?' Server response: 451 451 Try again in a few minutes

a "451" error means that an error was encountered in "local processing" - i.e. you are over a quota, the SMTP server is misconfigured, etc.

Let me know if that helps.

Thanks Brian, I'll look into that. I've seen no other email problems though, and that is my main email address.

This error is not coming from our system - this is from Mailgun, so something is going on at the SMTP level for your server.
