solved Facebook Player - Not Functioning?

I shared a couple songs to Facebook the normal way and no player showed up. Instead there was a picture and link back, the same as if a video was shared.

Could the recent URL shortener upgrade have disabled the Facebook player functionality?

The player URL is not affected, so no. It's likely just Facebook breaking things. If you see it consistently not working, let me know. If it is just every once in a while, then it's just FB being FB :)
