solved Shrunken Videos Surrounded by Blackness

How can we make videos expand to fill the playlist player?

Small lo res videos are surrounded by a "sea of black" which is not aesthetically pleasing.

Couldn't there be some type of sizing or stretch command added?

Hi Ken, I would think this could be done but if the videos are small and low res would not making them bigger make them nearly un-watchable. It would be a bit like making a tiny res image bigger which in turn make's it all blurry. Maybe it would help the look if the black surrounding it could be changed to something less dramatic like a soft grey.

No the videos do not look bad even when blown up full screen. The default view size in the player seems to be the issue.

However, a softer colored player would probably help - thanks.

Got an example of it?

I suspect your talking about the aspect ratio of the videos. Sometimes videos in a 4:3 ratio will have black marks down the side if shown in a player that allows for 16:9 spacing.

Hi Michael,

Thanks for you input - it's as good as fixed if you are on the case. I actually have a perfect example.

http://indiegospel.net/indiegospel/playlist/2/top-10-videos

What I want you to notice, is that the same first video that is surrounded by black in this playlist player, looks 100% better in it's individual player. Just click the first video below the playlist player, the individual player opens - the black is gone.

Why can't it look that way in the playlist player too?

It probably can, but likely needs some Javascript work. The playlist player has to handle Audio, Video and Soundcloud so it has settings that are "common" for those items.

We'll see if it is doable.

Thanks!

Videos should look better in the latest Playlist module update (1.0.15) - update to that and the videos should be bigger.

Hope this helps!
