I've added gallery_caption to Search, but the search results don't list specific gallery images containing the searched term. The results only show a link to the entire gallery.

If I understand correctly, search is finding the results but you want it to link to an individual image and NOT the gallery?

Thanks!

My Gallery search only finds images and galleries by the member's profile name who posted the pic. I would rather the image search found individual images based on the image title or tag...which it does not do at all right now.

For example: if I punch in "david" to the gallery search, it will pull up all photos posted by any member whose first or last name is David, plus any member named Davidson- this could be hundreds of photos that are not actually related to each other or to a subject.

What I would prefer and would be more useful, is to be able to do an overall gallery search for "banjo" for instance, and it would pull up all images with the word banjo in the photo Title or tag- from any members. Right now I punch in "banjo" and the search returns nothing. So, members typically looking for images of banjos, or soundholes, or fretboards...would just be out of luck.

I think this is what Blindmime is describing as well.

That's actually how it should be working now - not the first way (which would be searching on the profile name, and not the gallery data). I will check it out.

Thanks!

The Gallery module is missing the search_fields feature registration - I'll get that added in and fixed up, so this should work.

Thanks!

OK this should be fixed up in the latest Search and Image Gallery module updates - the root cause was 2 fold:

- The search module was pulling in the wrong "search" fields if there was only 1 module being searched (which was why you were seeing profile matches in the gallery search)

- The image galleries module had not "registered" it's search fields with the search module, so the search module didn't really have an idea of what fields to be searched. It's now searching the image name and the image caption.

I also tweaked the search results so they look better.

Update and let me know if that fixes things up.

Hope this helps!

I applied the updates for the search and gallery modules- updated all except today's Ningja skin update, because see here:
https://www.jamroom.net/ning-to-jamroom/forum/new_posts/19307/my-developer-tools-skin-cloner-is-not-working-right#last
(Afraid to over ride my ningja modifications until I can make a true clone without losing all my skin customizations.)

I am not seeing any change in the Image Gallery search function. (did cache and integrity check) It's still running searches based on the member name, not the photo titles or tags.
Is this possibly because I still have not updated today's Ningja skin?
I have to get my cloning issue resolved before I move forward or update Ningja skin.

It should have just "worked" - I just tested here on NingJa and it is working correctly for me. So I would updated, clear your caches and try again.

Hope this helps!

Sorry to repeat myself, but- I am still not seeing any change in the Image Gallery search function. (did cache and integrity check several times since yesterday) It's still running searches based on the member name, not the photo titles or tags. I get a million results when punching in "John"- photos from every member with John in their name. But ZERO results if I punch in something like "banjo" or "fretboard" or "bridge".
Again, -is this possibly because I still have not yet yesterday's Ningja skin update?
I have to get my cloning issue resolved before I move forward or update Ningja skin.

No - I don't think it is related to the NingJa skin - I'm not seeing any search template overrides in NingJa, so the search should be running correctly.

I just tested here on our demo site:

http://demo.jamroom.net/jrProJamLight/

search for "red shirt" (I just added a caption if red shirt to one photo) and you'll see it finds just that one image.

Do any of your images have a FILE NAME that contains "fretboard" or have a CAPTION that includes "fretboard"?

Thanks!

For example, if i go to a photo in the gallery of me on snowshoes. The top tab of my browser includes the phto name: "8047-LisaSnowshoefoot...". Plus, there are member comments on the photo that include the word "snowshoes"
But the URL window only says: http://(mysite).com/strumelia/gallery/7715/#gallery_img
And when I do a gallery search for snowshoe or snowshoes, nothing comes up.

Yet on my Ning site, I do a search within the photo section for "snowshoe" and I get this:
http://mountaindulcimer.ning.com/photo/photo/search?q=snowshoe
and the URL window shows: http://mountaindulcimer.ning.com/photo/snowshoeing-2007

I'm not worried about what happens on your Ning site. However, the URL you are showing:

http://(mysite).com/strumelia/gallery/7715/#gallery_img

appears to be wrong - there's no IMAGE name - i.e. it should be:

http://(mysite).com/strumelia/gallery/7715/8047-lisasnowshoefoot#gallery_img

and "snowshoe" should be found there. The fact that your image name is not being included in the URL makes me think the name was imported wrong, or something else if missing.

Comments are NOT part of an image data so they will not be searched on an image search.

Can you verify your gallery images have correct image names by using the Dashboard Data Browser on the "Image Galleries" module and look for the "image_file_name" key.

Hope this helps!

I only included the ning info to perhaps provide clues as to the differences happening with the files and file names- same exact image, but two different sites. Maybe the images all got renamed (or numbers assigned instead of their former file names?) during import?

Sorry i have company arriving any minute and staying for a couple hours, so will have to get back to this verification you wanted, later....

Yeah I'm thinking during import maybe something didn't go right - have you recently re-imported the gallery images or are they from an older import?

Thanks!

Original import. Didnt change anything or re-import.

I have a fresh ning archive that I am about to upload onto my server in a couple of days. I had been planning to test out doing an import over the old content to test the "replace" feature of the Import Module. But no, I have done nothing since the first ning content import- which I believe Paul did for me.

I had re-imported the groups/forums folders of content when you created the Forums discussions thingy. but I had left images/photos alone.

On the other hand, this one has kept its name in the url window:
http://(mysite).com/jeff-menzies/gallery/5776/6050-holly4.jpg
Yet when I do a gallery search for the word holly, or even for holly4, the search window first capitalizes the H in holly, and then gives me only a photo posted by a lady with the first name of Holly. Again, returning results only based on the name of the member who posted a photo.

Yeah I would say something is obviously not working right, as it seems to be behaving the same as it did before the updates. Unfortunately I can't replicate the issue locally or on the demo site, so I would have to get logged in to your site and try to trace the problem down there. If you want to send me your FTP login info, and Jamroom login info to brian [at] jamroom [dot] net I will try to check it out as soon as I can.

Thanks!

I will send you my login info now. Thanks Brian.

Be warned, my site seems head-bangingly slow today.

My other main problem right now is that I can't seem to make a true cloned skin, but I think Michael is the person looking at that area.

Update- need to sign off here until tomorrow....

@Strumelia - I've found the root cause of this on your site and have an update to the Search module I will release tomorrow (basically it was not clearing out a temp value that it used to store the fields that were being searched on - I've removed the need for that temp value now so it will work).

I also have some updates to NingJa that you'll want to update to as well.

I'll have those updates out tomorrow.

Hope this helps!
