Anyone else having an issue playing mobile in android? Just tried the ProJam Light demo and no sound there either.

Weird. I went to soundcloud and my note 3 plays fine. I can't get any Jr music playing at all.

Are you seeing any errors being reported?

You might try clearing your phones browser cache and see if that helps.

Ok checked 2 other Android phones and no go.

Try setting the jrAudio module to "mp3 + ogg" in your global config.


then go to the tools and convert audio to clean it up with the right format.

I believe the ogg format is the android native format they were using before html5 mp3 came along. The older android devices are troubled playing audio on the web.

Yeah do not want to go down that road. I am using a note 3 (these are new) which worked a month ago so something has changed.

Nothing has changed in streaming in quite some time - could be that your Android has just gotten messed up by an update or something. Seriously - Android blows for media.

It is just odd that it works on soundcloud and all other sites work ok. Regardless if android blows for audio it has to be supported lol.

It's not surprising to me. SoundCloud is multi-million dollar corporation with hundreds of developers that can afford to spend time making sure it works on 10,000+ different android devices.

Seems to be tied to my model for some reason. I tried two note three's and same thing but also tried a few other androids and they were ok.

Appreciate the help guys.

I'm going to have to buy an android device.

Since I gave up worrying about internet explorer I've been "kind of" missing these mysteries.

Lol Steve. I get amazed for how long I have been working in IT how many people despise IE. Then I work with a bunch of others who love IE and hate Chrome or Firefox.

The funny thing is with the test automation I build I have to use all three. I hate IE because it is slow as hell but everything always runs successfully. Chrome runs extremely fast but you have to write in a lot of wait statements to look for elements before it proceeds.Firefox is probably the smoothest of them all in my world.

But when it comes to testing mobile devices they all suck. I hate emulators with a passion.

Ballmer just left Microsoft with 15 Billion in shares. I imagine he loves IE. I hope that your "bunch of others" have done equally as well.

My best advice would be to try running chrome as your browser on your android device and see if you can play audio.

Hey B. Yeah these are all things I have tested. The issue seems to be based on the phone model vs the os. I may pull it up on crossbrowsertesting.com today and see how it plays there.i have tried a few other Android based phones and they are fine. My Note 3 played fine for months and then just stopped for some reason. I am guessing an update or some app is interfering with another app.

Yeah if worked previously, then stopped, it could be an app update that hosed it.

Hmm.. using Chrome here as well and no issues, so I would suspect something at a lower level is not working (or supported) on your phone.

If it works on Chrome on Android, then it should work on browsers _based_ on Chrome on Android BUT it also depends on the Android version, Vendor support, user customizations, etc. The JR5 player presents BOTH an MP3 and an OGG file for the browser - if it cannot handle either, it's not going to work.

There are no solutions beyond that. Sorry!

Hey Brian. I can't get it to work on firefox, chrome or the default browser included on android. My users are saying the same. If I go to the New Songs on my ranking page or an artist list song page, nothing happens.

My Nexus is dead right now, so I'm charging it and will test as soon as I can. Just noticed a new update to jPlayer (which JR5 uses) to version 2.7, which looks like it might have a bug fix for Android:

[2.6.4] Bug Fix: Removed the codecs part from the canPlayType test for MP3. This bug affected Win/OSX Chrome and Android Chrome and Firefox.

So jPlayer 2.7 will be in the next core update, and hopefully that helps out somewhat.

Yeah I know. I started updating pj using beyond compare and realized that the layout changed to have the side menu on the right. I prefer on the left from habit. So I changed most of it back but it did something to the mobile version. I still have to find the issue.
