Point system module

Hi guys
I would love to see a point sytem module created..this will be a module to have the community be even more interactive as it can have even some kind of reward program to it..i remember it was brouht up ahile back.. but nothing was done with it

What do you have in mind?

We do have a custom module that I developed for use on one of my own sites that awards users points for any of their actions. The number awarded is configurable per quota for every datastore based action (create audio, video, comment, whatever).

I think the points system will make a nice addition to Jamroom
Almost everything now in days has a rewards program..example for using your credit card, flying on a plane, renting a car..etc..so rewarding a member for adding the most videos, or pictures etc..why not..maybe the rewards can be a vip badge or something or if certain members are under a quota maybe they rack up many points and will jump to another quota setup with more features..😎

Thanks Paul for looking into it.
Even if its in it simple phase your custom module and if you believe its not ready for the marketplace hey im willing to still put it to use on my site if its ok with you..just let me know the investment toward it.

Hi Ed - Sorry for the delay. Have taken a look at what I started some time ago and think it can be adapted to what you want.
What I'm thinking now is that this would be a 'Profile Points' module, as it is the profiles that create items etc.
Per profile quota it would be configurable with modules, and the number of points accrued per item creation. Modules can be any datastore item (Audio, Video, Blogs etc.). The same points would be deducted if an item is subsequently deleted.
Each quota would also include an optional numeric field that is a 'points breakpoint'. If a profile accrues points and exceeds this breakpoint, the profile quota is changed to the said quota, and the profile user is notified. Of course, the a profile then deletes items and falls below this breakpoint, the quota is reverted.
There will also be a module tool to 'rebase' all profile points. This would be useful if after installing the module you wanted to award all profiles with points based on what they had already created.
A profile's current points can be shown in a template with a smarty call.

To do this, based on what I already have would take me four hours, so $300.
Let me know what you think. Maybe other users will see this post, like the idea of this module and want to contribute?

Paul i was thinking about the reward afterwards for a profile with points ...will this be also part of the system..lets say a custom field where the award is automatically added or listed by the admin to the profiles or would the award be given to a profile manually..
lets say i send them an email with an award

Not sure what you mean by 'reward'. This only reward I've specified is being moved to another/better quota.

Hmmmmmm..i guess I can always add badges to the quotas to give members something to look forward to..spice up the quota with a badge which will be that better quota.

You know Paul not sure how long it will take to get people to be on board this project your willing to take on, but i would like to start it off..by sending you $100 and if no one comes aboard after awhile ill just take the on the whole amount, but im ready to start it off with $100.
