Hey Guys

Would it be at all possible to add support to add YouTube and Vimeo videos to Playlists?

Thanks

I think there's an inherent problem in that YouTube don't allow streaming to any player other than their own. Not sure about Vimeo's policy on this.
You can mix Jamroom audio and SoundCloud items in the same playlist though.

Hmmm this option might not wanted to be added but what about adding the ability to download the YouTube videos to the site in the jrYouTube module? Then these could be included? This is how other systems must get round this problem.

I understand YouTube is there to save server space and bandwidth primarily for the site admin so this option would need to be turned off by default, or even better quota configurable.

I'm pretty sure YT don't offer any streams or downloads of their content. That's why you have to embed their players, and if there was a was to do it, its likely against their T&Cs.
I don't think we can help with this one - Sorry.

The issue is jplayer.

We tested a TON of different players before deciding on jplayer. Each has its own issues and strengths. jPlayer ( jplayer.org ) was the best of the bunch. Others could play youtube but couldn't do something else.

Here is an archive thread from the May 2013 about the issue:

Just to add to what Paul and Michael have already posted:

- playing YouTube videos in a player that is NOT the YouTube player is a violation of the YouTube TOS.
- downloading videos from YouTube is also against their TOS (although there are certainly browser plugins that can do this for you).
