I just discovered this yesterday and it blew my mind. I knew about 3D printing but no idea this existed:

"I just discovered a site called shapeways.com You have a 3D design and upload and people will print it for you. I was looking for a broken latch piece on my Audi hatch... it doesn't exist as a dealer replacement part. Lo and behold.... someone has the part available for 3D print. As if the part being available wasn't tripping me out... the fact that someone has designed an entire website with business model is just RAD. I LOVE Technology! "

As far as I can make out the most lucrative business model is going to be increasing the reach of smaller hi-tech military units by reducing their reliance on an unbroken chain of supply. Ultimately, autonomous, self-repairing drone units, with no need for any boots on the ground until the reconstruction phase.

My favorite from this bunch are the 3d printed foetuses:
