I installed Logwatch (for Ubuntu) on my Digital Ocean account. I can now see the brute force activity.

Anyone running DenyHosts?

Comments? Concerns?

make sure you modify /etc/ssh/sshd_config and change SSH to run on (for example) port 222 instead of 22 - that will cut brute force stuff by 99%.

I've changed my ssh port. What do you think about some of these other security mods?

http://www.thefanclub.co.za/how-to/how-secure-ubuntu-1204-lts-server-part-1-basics

I'm wondering specifically if #1, 2, 7, 8, and 9 would impact Jamroom?

1. Firewall - UFW
2. Secure shared memory
7. Prevent IP Spoofing.
8. Harden PHP for security.
9. Restrict Apache Information Leakage.

I think Jamroom should work fine with all of these.

Hope this helps!
