What do you love about Jamroom 5 right now?

Apart from loving jrDocs as always, I'm particularly loving the tools that Jamroom gives you to manage your project.

jrTracker and jrForum.

We don't use our forum so much: I'm often at my desk where people can find me, but it's useful as some of our people are on other campuses. I do wish we used it more though.

The tracker is something I use several times a week. Mostly that's just to organise myself and to prioritise things I need to do to our system, but it shows a record of items on my ToDo list so my team are able to see what I am aware of and what anomalies I haven't noticed yet. I'm the only person posting to the tracker, it works well like that for us.

What I love most about Jamroom right now is that where I work we have used it to build a great learning resource for our students, and that everyone (usually a librarian) who drops by my desk (to mention a bug, a feature request or a question about how to use it) arrives smiling and leaves happy. And that's just great :)

I like that I can build a module and that each end user can customize the output of that module so that it suits their own site. Means that I don't have to think of everything for everybody because they can tweak it to suit their needs.

I like that modules can talk to each other, so if another module does something that I need, then instead of rebuilding what already exists I can just pass that part off to the module that already does it, like image module handling images for all modules and the embed module handling the embedding of all modules stuff.

I like that forms are so easy to create for the module developer and so easy to extend by the admin user using the Form Designer.

I love that I can use phpstorm to build stuff, but that the non-technical user doesn't have to use phpstorm (or other development environment) to make changes.

I love seeing a new module built, then easily work in all skins without the skins needing alterations.

I like the super fast support I get when something goes wrong or when I screw up.

It used to be that I was afraid of the gazillion customizing options available to me for my site. Now a year later I'm still very wary when making customizations, but I really appreciate having infinite options available in customizing my site. I can see myself using Jamroom for future projects as well.

I also like the price tag of Jamroom...leaves me plenty of latte/croissant money in my pocket!

I have to agree- setting up a basic site can be done in one evening after you get an understanding of Jamroom

I am excited to see more people get on board as developers and look forward to more skins :)

I am also excited to see you guys get involved in social media more- it will make it easier for all of you to understand any small issues experienced when sharing content ( I have worked through these areas myself by adding custom Facebook OG to new pages)

I am not sure how you could utilize FB to promote JR but I have 1 website here where I make a living from and FB nearly put me out of business with everyone on FB having the ability to form their own GROUPS and PAGES etc....then I decided to use FB to MY advantage by building a Facebook Fan page for my site which is very active for my niche- everytime I post an article on my site I SHARE it to my FB Fan page and now over 90% of all my traffic comes from FB posts that are SHARED around the web---Have had days with over 30,000+ hits just from FB
So if YOU can find a way to use FB to drive traffic to JR then I think you are on track
GOOD LUCK GUYS!

The thing I still appreciate the most is simply how well the entire system has been thought out. From the admin side to form designer (although this could use a few more field types and layout options) to the excellent value it represents.

Hello Keith
I have been working on making a site for my kids and their school sports http://sayreeagles.net
and I have Roughneck City and Drilling Ahead both here although i have lots of work on the latter one to do...
Been watching your SHALE sites every now and then and wondering if you would be making the move from Ning?
Times are sure tough in the oilfield right now and slow- I figured it offered a good opportunity to rebuild.
Wish you luck!

Everything. Jamroom is the best price for features you can get in a CMS. Added, the developers are open to ideas and fix issues quickly.

As someone who uses JR daily (duh) I think what I like the most is how easy it is for me to spin up a test JR install in like 30 seconds on our hosting :)

I honestly love Jamroom. I had used many platforms(joomla, dolfin, phfox, social engine and workpress). They have great features and easy to use, but are buggier and have security risks. I think the exceptions is wordpress since I have a site running on it and so far I had not encountered any issues yet.
I think Jamroom has evolved a lot, and the addition of the site builder is a 100% plus. I just wish more options can be added to it such as charts, auto play functionality for embedded audio, video and youtube.
What is available right now is great.. :)

Yes
Jamroom hosting is the best-I have tried like 4-5 hosts and Jamroom hosting offers by far the best value

I love that you can add template and tpl_dir as parameters to jrComment!

I can have comments work differently for my sectional item module, but leave jrComment at the defaults for the rest of the site :)

Every time I use it (quite often), I'm glad that I made that colour picker form field.

I especially love that come October, my Jamroom site will be about HALF the price of what I'd be paying if I had stayed on Ning.
With many times the level of customizability and potential.
And 100x the quality of service. ;D

I love (love!!) the incredibly friendly, swift, and professional support replies... both here and in private support tickets.
I love that when I put in an 'agile' sort of request, magic happens! This magic is often free, and when not free, is offered at a very reasonable fee. I asked for a solution that was bedeviling us, and for a modest fee, within 3 days I had not only the solution (custom install on our JamRoom site), but also multiple support ticket replies to 'tweak' it to perfection.

[info on agile https://allaland.wordpress.com/2010/02/15/agile-in-plain-english-part-1/]

I have not been this excited about LEWWWP (our site/mission) since late January 2012 when we were preparing to launch LEWWWP on Ning.

Innumerable frustrations with Ning's platform are not only not a frustration on Jamroom, but surpass what we were hoping for to resolve our frustrations.

The wish lists of multiple members are already resolve or are on our "we can do this when we find time" lists, with JamRoom documentation and support forum links already bookmarked.

Truly, I've literally been singing out loud, "I love you JamRoom, / Oh, yes I do-ooooo!" / You made ____ happen / Oh yes you diiiiiid! / I love you JamRoom / Oh yes I do-oooooo! / You work magic / You truly do-oooo! / You're making us look good / You're making us feel good / Hooray for JamRoom!"

We are inching closer to launch and beginning to believe we'll make our October 1, 2016 target date!
All this in less than a month's time!

*I and the others working with me are also indebted to the "Ning to JamRoom" forum contributors.
I'm selfishly glad you worked through this before me/us.

The extraordinary responsiveness of the Jamroom team (special big thanks to Paul and Michael!) The vast potential for customization and the ability to get going anyway before you’ve figured it all out. The fact that I (a low-skilled but very curious and determined puzzle solver) can do so much myself and ask for AND RECEIVE help when I get stuck. I’ve learned so much in the process!

I feel energized about my site and my teaching in a way I haven’t for months. At first, I took Ning’s discontinuation of my 2.0 Mini network as bad news but now, after three weeks on Jamroom, I feel it was a blessing in disguise!
