i check for updates 4 or so times a day cause i know u pump em out fast
so all updates are always applies
and i dont ever remember seeing all of these availkable in a single day
so whats going on is it sending the ones made available this month regardless of wether i already updated or not?

its a minor thing just wondered why it does this

Most likely you're getting this from an old site - make sure you've shut down any old sites you have moved on from.

It wont send you an email if there are no updates.

oh that makes sense when i cancled the old server they said 'we require 2 weeks notice so you will be billed for another month"
well i cant afford to pay for both servers for this month so thier bills not getting paid
so since they wouldnt cancle it likei requested maybe they will suspend it

it has been over 2 weeks since i requested it be cancled though im sure
yea its been 3 weeks

My problem is quite the reverse.
I am no longer recieving email notification for updates.
I have checked my notification settings and are all set to send email... yet none are sent.
I haven't received an update notification since 24/12/2014.
Any ideas?

When I was receiving update emails the url to my sites update page were prefixed with a sub-domain e.g. email.barklycommunity.org. This sub-domain has not been created in my hosting account and does not exist.

Make sure ACP -> Core -> Marketplace -> Global Config -> check for updates is checked.

Hope this helps!

Check for updates was checked already.
I did find my FTP login was incorrect and fixed it... even though I don't use it as the system can write directly to the module and skin directories.

And why would my previous update notification emails url content be prefixed with a non exitent sub-domain e.g. email.barklycommunity.org?

Seams strange. Run the integrity check and clear the caches. (just to be sure) and if it still persists, perhaps do a search on the database for that term "email.barklycommunity.org" to see if that term is there or not as a setting somewhere. To eliminate that as a factor.

Thanks Michael, but I have performed these tasks you mention before I listed this.
Running an integrity check has become part of my course of action before I speak ;)

However i am unable to confirm anything since the 24/12/2014 as I am no longer receiving update notification by email since that date.

Back to you...

Figured you'd done the first steps stuff, just have to say it to be sure ;)

Im just guessing coz I don't know the answer. next guess would be server setup, perhaps email.barklycommunity.org is an internal address that the server uses to send out the emails and its falling through. Brian knows much more about servers than I do.

Try going into "PhpMyadmin" from cpanel on your server and run a search on your database for email.barklycommunity.org to see if its hard-coded in there by some off chance.

Just searched through the database via phpmyadmin and returned no results.
I normaly use HeidiSQL and search that way... it also returned no results for email.barklycommunity.org.

Yet since I have stopped receiving update notifications, maybe there is another issue at play.

Update:
Just found this in DNS zone editor:-

email.barklycommunity.org. CNAME mailgun.org Delete
autodiscover.support.barklycommunity.org. A 100.42.56.225 Delete
autoconfig.support.barklycommunity.org. A 100.42.56.225 Delete
webdisk.support.barklycommunity.org. A 100.42.56.225 Delete
autoconfig.treowenolives.barklycommunity.org. A 100.42.56.225 Delete

webdisk.files.barklycommunity.org. A 100.42.56.225 Delete
autodiscover.files.barklycommunity.org. A 100.42.56.225 Delete

I have stopped using mailgun and this stuff has appeared from its install.

I have deleted all the above and will keep you posted as to what happens next :)

Looked at system updates this morning and I see an update for "Feed Reader" sitting there.
I have not received an update email for this.
The problem continues...

The update emails will only go out once a day. I just updated feed reader this morning. Give it 24 hours to check if the email arrives or not.

Allrighty then!
Tested on my localhost and the update emails are being sent.
The subdomain email.barklycommunity.org is a rewrite happening on MailGun server.
The links contained within the outgoing update email read: 127.0.0.7/xxxxxxxx and are recieved via MailGun as email.barklycommunity.org/xxxxxxxx.

I have found MailGun to be quirky and have decided to disable it.
The fun part is removing its tracks from my server and getting email sent by the JamRoom core to deliver, currently they are being sent to a black hole.

These are the settings for my local server:

https://www.jamroom.net/the-jamroom-network/documentation/modules/282/mailgun-smtp

on mailgun.com I have that domain added as a domain and it arrives as coming from the domain, not email.thedomain.com

I can see email.thedomain.com in the cname in the settings for the domain on mailgun.com but the TXT hostname reads as thedomain.com

seams to be working right for me, my guess is its a setting on mailgun.com that needs tweaking or setting for you.

Want me to log into your mailgun account and see if they look the same as my settings? support at jamrooom dot net attn michael.

Thanks for the offer Michael.
I don't need to use MailGun at the moment and am happy now everything is back to normal.
Update notification emails are now being received with the correct url.

I found an issue on my server where the email system was corrupt and had support@arvixe fix it for me.
FYI - here is the report from email trace:

DeliveryReporter API internal failure: DBD::mysql::db selectall_arrayref failed: Table './eximstats/smtp' is marked as crashed and should be repaired at /usr/local/cpanel/Cpanel/Exception.pm line 96 Cpanel::Exception::new('Cpanel::Exception::Database::Error', 'Cpanel::ExceptionMessage::Raw=SCALAR(0x123bae8)', 'HASH(0x177c4e0)') called at /usr/local/cpanel/Cpanel/Exception.pm line 47 Cpanel::Exception::create('Database::Error', 'Cpanel::ExceptionMessage::Raw=SCALAR(0x123bae8)', 'HASH(0x177c4e0)') called at /usr/local/cpanel/Cpanel/Exception.pm line 55 Cpanel::Exception::create_raw('Database::Error', 'DBD::mysql::db selectall_arrayref failed: Table \'./eximstats...', 'HASH(0x177c4e0)') called at /usr/local/cpanel/Cpanel/DBI.pm line 79 Cpanel::DBI::_create_exception('Cpanel::DBI::Mysql::db=HASH(0x18960c8)', 'DBD::mysql::db selectall_arrayref failed: Table \'./eximstats...', undef) called at /usr/local/cpanel/Cpanel/DBI.pm line 70 Cpanel::DBI::_error_handler('DBD::mysql::db selectall_arrayref failed: Table \'./eximstats...', 'Cpanel::DBI::Mysql::db=HASH(0x18960c8)', undef) called at /usr/local/cpanel/Cpanel/DeliveryReporter.pm line 477 Cpanel::DeliveryReporter::query('Cpanel::DeliveryReporter=HASH(0x188ac88)', 'recipient-0', 'admin@barklycommunity.org', 'api2_filter_term_0', 'admin@barklycommunity.org', 'api2_sort', 1, 'searchmatch_recipient-0', 'eq', ...) called at /usr/local/cpanel/bin/admin/Cpanel/eximstats line 107 eval {...} called at /usr/local/cpanel/bin/admin/Cpanel/eximstats line 107

I am not sure if this was a result from using MailGun, as MailGun worked fine for me in the beginning.
I also found whilst using MailGun my server didn't like the DKIM provided by MailGun for authentication.

Looks like you have some type of setup on your server to track exim (your smtp server) and the DB is crashed:

Quote:
Table './eximstats/smtp' is marked as crashed and should be repaired

You need to repair the "smtp" table in your "eximstats" DB.

This is at your server level - it's not JR related.

Thanks Brian.
The team at Arvixe sorted it out for me and I was posting the report to see if you had any ideas as to what may have caused it. Arvixe only fix things and never explain why.
