solved default profile image - how to change on the "Profiles" page
How do I change the default image for our members listed on the profiles page? I've managed to change the default on the individual members' pages, but it's not showing up on this page... we seem to be stuck with question marks...

Try looking in the Images Tab of your Image Core module.
Or try accessing it here: http://yoursite.com/image/admin/images
You just have to upload a new custom image. Dont' forget to check the 'active' checkbox, and then "save changes".
If you make it a square custom image, it 'plays nice' in grids and lists.

thanks for your help... I tried that... it's changes the profile images on the individual profile pages but not on the page where all our members are listed in a grid.... I'm sure I'm probably missing one little thing but I can't figure out what that might be...

Try resetting the cache. it should be the same image everywhere. if it doesnt fix it after clearing the cache, outline how you:

I've tried resetting the image cache. I actually added our default profile image in a couple of places before I figured out what was going on 
So here are the places I remember changing it:
1. ACP>Image core>images
2. ACP>Profiles>images
I also noticed that when I search for a member profile, it will sometimes show up in the search with a question mark and for other profiles it shows up as the new image. (see attached screenshot)

Maybe a dumb question, but did you do both of these in both locations in my following two screenshots? (also be sure to clear your browser cache just to be sure)
