normally the admin icons only show when you hover over the comment
on the last forum comment however they show all the time except when you hover over it so you cannot edit the last comment made

it appears to only happen on my (admin) posts and i can edit other peoples posts or delete or quote
its only on mine that the icons disapear when i hover over the post

I see that occasionally as well, but not in the same circumstances as you.
One example of one of the JR Team needs to check it out, is at the FIRST/beginning post of this discussion at
http://mysite.com/forums/forum/general-mountain-dulcimer-or-music-discussions/16234/appalachian-journey-with-alan-lomax-1991
in that discussion I cannot edit the first/original post, posted by the thread starter...because the buttons disappear upon hover.

its probably the CSS causing the issue. Look for elements in the post above it that float, or are absolutely positioned.

Thats probably the cause of it.

Ok, so another clue:
In my link example above, the post exhibiting this was the original thread post, so no post was 'above it'. PLUS....now I just returned to it and it's now behaving normally. So, the behavior came and went apparently.
But I do see this occur on my site every few days when i browse around. It's not common however. Soaring, have you tried a browser hard refresh and/or integ check when you come accross it? Is it 'sticking' in your site when it happens? I will try that next time.

I am getting this issue a LOT now on my newly live and active site. No members have complained yet, so it may be only happening to me as admin. It's fixed when i simply refresh the page, but it's going to be incredibly annoying even if it only happens to me.

Since it comes and goes from one miunute to the next, and gets fixed after a page refresh, posting a link is kinda useless.

Paul is currently investigating this on my site, but I thought I'd update this thread in case others are experiencing it.

Tried to look at the issue in your link @strumelia, but the link is no longer active.

Without seeing it happen I can only guess at causes.

My first guesses are along the lines of the CSS element designated to trigger the showing of the button is overlapped by something, so it could be a CSS issue.

Another guess is that there are mulitiple ID's that are the same on the page, so the hover gets confused, id="something" has to be unique for each page otherwise javascript gets confused.

soaringeagle:...wish someone would look into why my server locks up when i try to verrify the forum module in the inntegritycheck..

That sounds like a more serious issue. I usually only see the integrity check get stuck on an item when I am in the process of building that module and have made a mistake in the code that can't be processed.

Quite hard to locate the source of that issue without a debugging system setup but since we dont have that.... are there any errors in the error logs (I wouldn't expect any in the jamroom error log but there might be some in the server error logs right after the integrity check is run.)

Not really much for me to go on to provide suggestions. Check the server logs for any errors perhaps.

I have this problem right now on this page:
http://pmp-art.com/library/forum/paintmyphoto-tell-us-more/14172/tell-us-your-ideas#last

I'm an Admin user on the site. Using Firefox.
I made the last reply on the forum and then closed that browser tab. I wanted to go back and edit my reply. I opened the Forum, where there is a link in the original post which goes to the last reply (exactly as shown above). I clicked the link which opened the forum at the last reply, in a new tab.
The edit icons are doing the opposite of normal, i.e. are visible until I hover the cursor over them.
I have a number of other tabs open: one is an image for another profile on the site, one is the Dashboard Activity log, Gmail and then the same forum in the tab I opened initially.

I'll try and reproduce this and let you know.

so think thats why
many of my forums posts have dozzens even a hundred pages of replies
and some replies are loooooong
so a non paginated forum post might have 600,000 words and 600 photos
not an option
as some of my posts get updated year after year
in fact 1 of the 1st posts i made on the site has always bneen the most read post and has the most replies .. 6 years worth

no my solution doesnt work for 1 reason it has to be aware of the number of pages and add /p=3#last
or something likethat
will start a new discussion spedcific to this
