solved Assigning Group Pages to Groups

I am in the area of 'The Page Group Config tool allows you to assign imported Ning Pages to specific Groups, or to 'stand alone' pages" and completely get the idea.

Only, there seem to be pages that belong to groups I KNOW exist, which are not listed. It appears only the groups I created are listed as possible groups to transfer the pages to. (and maybe not even all of them)

@Paul, tagging you on this since you helped with import.
FYI- I am just now getting started on working with groups. At this point I don't even know where to find them, but am heading back to the video tutorial to watch.

But do you think all the groups made it over?

I'm wondering if those missing groups are due to Choco's issue with 'un-apporved' items (which weren't even pending but the ning archive marked them so) OR due to the issue when I was missing some groups after import- because they had been created by members that had since left my ning network but not delelted their content- thus the group had no profile to import to.

And Paul- did you fix the 'unapproved'
issue here just for Choco's case, or did you apply the fix for the importer in general?

Yeah - I did fix that 'unapproved' Ning anomaly up.
I think this issue might be to do with private groups not showing in the assign tool but am waiting for @restmin to send me some working logins ;-)

This is fixed. Not all your quotas had the Group module enabled so those groups weren't being shown.

Ah!- the obvious reason, yet often not obvious to us newbies!

ah, ok, so @paul, what did you do to fix it? I ask because in our network HERE I am just going to have groups for a certain level of membership, but not the others. It will be like $4 a month for a bunch of features. So I did have those quotas correct.

But... in Ning a lot of members would start a group and leave...and we'd been there for many years. Here I will be the manager of all groups. I need to go figure out how to assign myself that. Then I can put the quotas back the way I'd done it. Does that sound right?

After a trial import of a ning archive (not live yet), Paul reset my 'missing' groups so that they now are shown as having been created by me, instead of as having been created by members who have since left. Then they showed up fine. (i think that's what you are asking?)
We'll have to do that again when I do my final 'going live' Ning archive import.

@strumelia So your ning is still active while you work? I have an import and just told my members 3 weeks ago nothing new would be transferred, but they are SO NOT happy about it. So you are doing a last minute import?

Also, not sure what is going on with group admins since I can't find my groups. :| Time for bed I think. but if you read this, let me know where you found them?

Curious, did you assign the group pages from Ning to JR yet? They have a tool for that, since the pages don't get assigned automatically but I didn't make any of those pages and I can only see the title, (things like FAQ or Help) so I am trying to contact some group admins and ask if the titles look familiar.

I may tell all old group admins to make sure to copy their pages content before I shut down Ning. They put a lot of time into the pages sometimes and I do want to keep them happy :)

Thx for your tips!

Yes my Ning is still completely active while I work, and I have done TWO trial ning archive imports during this time. I work on the site using the older archive of content that was imported a while back. The third and final import will be the new "go live" one. Yes I've been taking a long time. ;) I lost about a month I figure due to the HORRIBLY slow cheap Arvixe server i chose in the beginning. Anyway...
When i'm actually ready to go live, I will tell my members that for a few days anything they post will be lost, and will shut down the ning site to new users signing up. I'll get the final fresh archive to import and OVERWRITE the archived older content on my JR site that I was building/testing with. (all my test posts will disappear in this process).
Right now I'm only a few eeks from going live and I'm still running both sites but the ning one is the one members are still using. They cannot even log into my JR site just yet.

Pages- my few pages made by members had titles that were descriptive enough to search for in my ning site and thus find where they were located. Titles like "Older tunings for dulcimer" etc. Is there no way to look in your archive folder and open those pages to see some text from them, and then search them on your ning site to find where they are located?

Thanks for the insight! I had worked on a buddyoress site for months and then scrapped it all. I need more tech help support.everytime a plugin goes bad and throw things off was going to be just too much for me to deal with time wise.
