I'm wondering... if we start developing a site uisng the Ning-ja skin, will it pan out OK if we decide not to import everything from a Ning network, after all?

I can envisage wanting to import only the members from the Ning network, or doing it in just small-scale selected batches at first in order to get feedback.

The Ningja skin was made for Ning users migrating to Jamroom, it is still a Jamroom skin and will work without importing Ning data, however... it may be missing some sections since there won't be any data to display, ie. Groups, Group Discussions etc...

Hope this helps!

So far so good. I have been adding test groups and discussions pre-migration.

There does not seem to be any basic problem setting up the site pre-migration.

My aim here is to learn how JR works, and then be in a better position to decide what to keep from my Ning network, if and when I do migrate from there.

I'll mark this thread as solved.

Thanks
