Embed Local Media Blank And No Page Layout Control

OK so we all decided to wipe out my site and start from scratch, along with Ning import. Cool. I thought I enabled everything but there remains two problems maybe you all can help with.
1. I no longer have the option to change page layout. Now Paul said he had to disable Ning Panels b/c it was interfering with the Ning skin but is that why I can no longer change page layout? Obviously this is a problem. I re-enabled it and sure enough, things wigged out. Luckily I was able to disable it again but is a fix coming? I need to be able to modify layouts (hopefully) without messing with the CSS itself.

2. When I'm in a forum, blog or page and I go to embed media (photo), the embed media page is completely blank. It doesn't matter if I have selected a blog list image or not. The media page is still blank.

I went back through my image settings, quotas, permissions three different times. All seem ok but obviously I'm overlooking something. Someone smack me - it's been a loooooong week. What am I missing?

1.) If you disable panels, then yes, panels will not work. Page Layout is part of the Panels system.

2.) try searching for something. By default it will show only your stuff, if you dont have an active profile, there will be no stuff to show. Might be that you need to un-check the option "profile media only" to get that search working.

ACP -> FORMS -> EDITOR EMBEDDED MEDIA -> GLOBAL CONFIG -> Profile Media Only

Quote:
If this option is checked, then only media from the active profile will show in the TinyMCE Embed popup. If unchecked, then all media system wide (that is not private) will be available

Thanks Michael.
So are they going to repair the panels to work in the Ning skin or should I switch to another skin in order to utilize them? (edited) but if I do switch, do I lose groups?

I tried to enable and disable the profile media box and it had no effect either way. As it stands, we cannot upload any photos or videos at all. There must be something (really incredibly stupid simple) I'm missing.........

the issue isnt the enable media from whole site the issue is that the iframe inside the embed button thingy doesnt load the body

here is the cause of the embed issue
"NetworkError: 500 Internal Server Error - http://stockbuz2.net/embed/tabs/__ajax=1"
pretty sure its the cause of your panels issue
the problem is your on godaddy cheap assed shared hosting
you have a very low upload/memory limit
you have noconterol over server variables like memory limit post ize max upload size
or anything interfering with ajax

ok i used the panel importer to import the ning defaults
because your menu datastore had no items inb it whatsoever
not sure why
but everythings working fine with the ning defaults

this is tthe 'json that builds the menu and front page' i mentioned quite awhile back

so everythings restored to a working format that is the basic ning begining stage

you will have to recreate the custom layout u created
i do not see a link to the forum im not sure why but if u simply create a menu idtem to that profile it will bethere

you are up and running just fine
though unfortunately at a default state

Kos:So are they going to repair the panels....

No they, just the us, you can say 'you'.

soaringeagle:...here is the cause of the embed issue
"NetworkError: 500 Internal Server Error - http://stockbuz2.net/embed/tabs/__ajax=1".....

500 is a server issue. somethings wrong with the server. Probably a setting or something. Need to figure out what that is, because jamroom wont work if the server doesn't work.

Did you just fix that up SE? If so thanks.

i fixerd it it was simple
the construction kit caused the server error because it cant load without panels
panels worked just fine there was just nothing in the menu datastore
no idea why
with panels off there were mnenu items there

i used the import jsonto create the default ning layouts and menus wich shed never done
so
although unfortunately its all set baqck to the default layouts
its all working perfectly fine

there was no need to fix the panels cause the panels worked
there was however somethingfishy going on in the menu datastore

These really cheap shared servers can create more headaches than they are worth, and can make it really hard to build a test site. I got kicked off my cheap arvixe server twice just for doing a few too many template tweaks in 48 than they 'liked'. I got kinda paranoid about doing anything with my site after a while. =8-\
Like leasing a super cheap car but then realizing it has no wheels or engine.

SE I so much appreciate your assistance. It's been a long week so I'll get into what I need to do tomorrow a.m. but here's an oddity.
When I go to adjust the layout on the home page and I click to edit the top module, guess what language it's in. lmao! http://screencast.com/t/12M8s5GkUF
