solved 2 things missing from forums

the forums have no ratings system nor do they have diqus commenting
out of all the places diqus is wanted the forums would be the top of the list

i know i can edit the templates and add both
but probably should be the default

id almost go as far as to say the comments and replies should get a like dislike and/or rating.. but id have to ask my members thier opinions

Sorry but why does a forum on which users can comment need another commenting system (discus) adding to it?

why do photos or blogs wich ppl can comment on need 1
the reason is to encourage off site discussion
this is huge for seo for 1 thing the more your contents discussed off site the more important it is anfd higher it ranks
plus your reaching a wider audeince thats not finding your site but using disqus

every otherthing on site that has commebting has diqus too

This is not something we will be adding to the forum - if you need "comments on comments" then you'd want to work that in yourself. Sorry!

Ratings can be added by customizing the template and adding in the rating function call.

Still don't get it. Maybe I'm missing the point.
But if you want discus, ratings and likes on forum posts it's easy enough to add the relevant module calls to the forum template.

it should be there for the exact same reasons its anywhere else

why would u alow it on blogs and not forums
especialy if your most important contents in forums not blogs

I don't agree. You need to think why something should be there before you just put it there. A forum is a commenting system in and of itself - "adding" comments to a comment system is just going to confuse the majority of users.


Because a blog is not a forum?

The good news is Jamroom is all templated, so you could work this in for yourself if it is something you feel is really important to your site. It is just not something we are going to add to the system.

That's not something we care about. Our forum is to support our customers. Disqus is not going to do anything for "network growth" unless you count drive by spamming as users

except you have spam control they have spam control
and talk to any seo expert and they will tell you its a huge huge help
the seo worlds changing social signals are king now
having disqus discussions on all of your content especialy the most important content u want to rank the highest .. well its priceless

companies spend 50,000 a month paying seo companies to start disqus discussions about your content for you (and ofcourse on other social share sites as well)

so why pay an seo company to talk about your content on disqus when you can get the conversation going right on your content

i am working with the top seo guys in the world i could have them explain the value if you want

Just a bit of advice - my “2 cents” of course, so take it for what it’s worth :

Build a great site, with great content and “SEO” and “network effects” will happen on their own. Anything else is going to bring low quality users to your site.

A site with 100 “engaged” users is always going to be a better site than one with 1,000 “drive by” users who don’t participate - especially in a niche social network.

But regardless, I'll repeat that the good news is this is doable on your site if you feel like it needs to be done - there's nothing stopping you

definately going to soon as its on the new server its the 1st thing ill do but im bettingif you post a poll and ask all your customers if they think it should be on forums too that the results will be at least 95% say yes you could allways just added a "include in module' checklist for likes disqus and ratings and let them choose where they want what

and its not so much about the quality of the users that drop by its the signals they send the fact that they are talking about you at all

and 'quality' contents irelevent since every 1 of the top sites except perhaps the 3 at the very top but almost all in the top 10,000 employ people just to start up discussions offsite and get those signals flowing

you realize they might charge 1,100 a month for 10 links 5 facebook posts and 5 disqus discussions and 5 google + posts
having that comment box on 10,000 posts in your forums can generate hundreds of discussions a month free

im just saying the benifits are priceless

I think you and I just have to agree to disagree on "quality content is irrelevant" - to me content is the core of a quality site.

Anyways I'm going to mark this complete since it's something you can work in to your site.

but what im saying is its irelevent to the fact that sites with the highest quality content there is still employ people to ctreate these social signals for them when you can create them free
