completed Two things I would like for member profile pages

1) the location of the member- city, and US state or country. My members really need to know the general location of other members when trying to help them find teachers, or planning trips to festivals, etc. Not having that show would be a disappointment to all of us.

2) can we get some sort of text box on member pages or an "About me" kind of simple box they can type in things like what instruments they play, hobbies, etc? I use my sign-up questions mostly to weed out spammers, not to give a place for members to describe their interests. Members love to have a place for "About Me" info. Maybe it's available but I am not seeing the option?

Use the Form Designer and add your own custom profile form field.


This is already setup in NingJa - if the user adds info to their profile bio then it shows at the top of their profile page. They can customize it however they want.

Member location fields do get imported from the Ning archive but they are not used in the Ningja skin. I'll have a word with Douglas to see if he can fit it in somewhere.

OMG, first SOMEHOW I managed to stumble around and... found the place and created the new profile form 'location' field. Then after that, I ALSO edited the Profile 'sidebar' template to make the member's location show in the member profile page's sidebar, in bold, right underneath the member avatar. omg omg omg how on earth did I do that? =8-0

It's working! All my members now have their locations showing under user photo on their profile pages and looks great! =8-O


Ah!- so sorry, did not see that since the members need to add that 'bio' content new when in their account settings, and my site is not live yet.

OK so the JR team just updated the Ningja skin to put the member location to show in the profile, right under the user's photo. Which is good.

Now I got rid of my personal custom tweak for that.
But I di d remove the line to show the member's zip code (in the ningja skin sidebar template) because I suspect that's more info than my members will want to show publicly. City/state/country is plenty.
