paul you mentioned i sghould clear my database and do a fresh import
you suggested that a full clear and fresh install would be optimal if i didnt make changes through acp
however i have made many template edits on skins and modules in acp
so i want to only clear out the tables containing the imported data

im familiar with mysql command scripts etc so can just run that in the control panel phpmyadmin if you have a script that will clear the tables i njeed, or i can do it through the sites phpmyadmin if you just list the tables i should drop
i think that accepts commands too right but you have to do 1 at a time?

whatever method you thinks best but as long as i know the tables needed to be dropped that would be good enough

no hurry still got 90 gigs to upload

Actually, the latest jrNingImport module has options for 'delete and re-upload' so if you work through that, starting with the members, I think you can effectively re-import the site.

And on the ning end of the archiving, I think archiving the members LAST is best, because if the feature by feature archiving process takes say 3 days, you don't want new members joining meanwhile and posting new content only to not be included in your "members" ning archive folder.
I feel it's best to have the 'members' be the freshest ning feature, that you download last. That way, if the importer is looking for a member that has posted something in the archive, it'll at least find that member. If that member's initial content like a discussion post is missing, no big deal, but if there's a discussion thread created by a member that is missing in the archive, tha'ts likely to cause more of a problem.
That's also why it's best as Paul said to import the members FIRST on the JR side of things.

Actually that is critical. In Jamroom everything is owned by a member/profile, so without them being imported, nothing else is imported.

Just to add that if you're doing an import to a new Jamroom site, you'll only see the members import option until more than 1 member exists in the site, so it tries to help you there ;)
