They were removed because it was causing issues. Not sure we need a profile comment when there is a timeline for the profile that anyone can comment on.

Hope this helps! :)

Then what will happen to all the comments currently on our members' personal pages on our ning networks?

I'll let Brian or Paul answer this, I'm not 100% sure if profile comments will be added in or if your Ning comments will be put somewhere else.

They will be imported. The profile comments were just temporarily removed form the NingJa skin since they actually didn't work right - we'll get them added back in as soon as we can make sure they are setup properly.

Hope this helps!

It absolutely does help Brian. :)

P.S. Not sure how I'd want them to be 'different' according to Soaring, but I agree with SE that the comments on someone's profile page should not be in a timeline that sinks comments into oblivion after a couple dozen- they do need to be permanently browseable by visitors to that person's page.

I have a couple of very beloved deceased longtime members, and the comments on thier profile pages are still added to even now. The long running comments from other members are a touching tribute to those people and how they are missed. I'd hate to see all those beautiful personal comments disappear. Thanks so much.

The comments on the profile will work just like comments on any other item in Jamroom - they're permanent and exist on their own page. Note that he "timeline" is an always up-to-date listing of what activity a profile is DOING - it doesn't replace comments or change comments in any way.

Hope this helps!

Brian, what are the chances of beefing up the "Private Notes" module (for private messages between members) so that it has a richtext/wysiwyg text box for writing the notes in? Being able to embed hotlinks, web images, quoting, bold/underline/italic text etc ...well it makes messaging way more useful and fun. I bought the Private Notes Module since it wasn't in the Ning Bundle but it seems pretty limited and plain vanilla compared to what I'm used to. I certainly wouldn't mind paying more for a more versatile one, either. Is it something you'd be into doing? Merci....

i noticed the timline isnt limited in time ..it creates page after page they dont disapear,...

but the 140 char limits make it useless for my purpose i often have to give long detailed advice in comments alond with links photos sometimes videos
i find twitter absolutely uselessbecause of that limit and cant understand why ppl bother to use it
i hate it personally

It'd be fun to see how you'd do if the forum posts here were set to a 140 character limit, Soaring. You'd have to make 30 posts all in a row. God help us all!... ;D

yea seriusly i mean my best posts are always like 4,000 words or more when i tried using twitter i would waste so much time re-editing it trying to get the point across with the minimum number of letters ..i just cant see how anyone can use it for thoughts any more interesting then 'i like cheese'

on a side note in hs we were once given an assignment to just look around the room memorize all we could then write a 4 page report on what we remembered i did 8 pages on just the lightswitch in extreme detail the dirt in the ridges the way the light affected the contours how the screws were worn etc etc

so yea restricting anything to 140 charachters is insane unless your thoughts are extremely simple

its good enough for 'yumm peanutbutter' or 'damn its raining again"
but nothing more complex thben the simplest of thoughts that noone would care about anyways
