forums listings categories groups etc etc

oh how my head hurts trying to puzzle this out
and i read pauls going away message anbd realize were working with a rough draft and my hopes of moving here foor good in 2 weeks was too ambitious

but ok to my questions

looking at discussioin tab i see whats in the screenshot
note u see a title
short description (too short) (hmm on 2nd thoiught might not be too short on mobile?) then catagory a category name (not linked to antthing) and the word comments
how can i set up a page that has
1 a list of the categories then the top 10 most recently actrive posts in thast categiory
i want this as the forum page default display
with each category linking to a fuoll list of whatrs in that category
also in the lists like activity feeds and whatever those catagory names should be links to the categfory themseklves

u also see uncategorized wich belong to groups
i think my groups didnt import so i understand why they are orphaned

is there a reason theres no category display and is there a way to build 1
can smarty codes and seamless codes be used in the create a page

I know I am still stuck thinking in ning layout terms. (for example I look at : https://www.jamroom.net/the-jamroom-network/forum and I see this is possible already. This mindset change is definitely going to take a little while, speaking for myself anyway. Thank goodness there is tons of help here (we need it!), but even with that we still will have to be methodical and maybe a bit patient too. The forums categories will be an important thing for all of us, definitely.

its possibly cause my discussions arent yet fully importerdsd but keep in mind also that those are jamroom forums built on jamrooms built in structure not ning imports

im going to try finishing my imports now myself while pauls away
