3 questions real quick

1 how do you change the default profile picture..i swear i did it the other night but maybe was on lucid or even slate not elastic
i had a great photo
i swear i made it work
but now iu just see thye ugly questionmark
andcannot find where i might have changed it before
secondly
will there be any sort of natuive chat that doesnt require a secondary login like skype

and 3rd question
tyhe private notes is that simular to the messaging sysatem in ning
whnen migrating are all messages lost or do the inbox and archivedmessages transfer

oh and 1 member added a photo gaqllery but clicking the > doesnt advance to next pic it kicks u back to 1st pic

Profiles and Users, although linked, have their own image.
On your profile page, click on the gear wheel (usually top right). You are now in the profile update view where you can upload a photo. Now click on the User Account tab. Upload the user image there.

We don't have a chat module at the moment, but checkout SteveX's Together module. I think that has a chat feature - https://www.jamroom.net/ultrajam/documentation/modules/1416/together

I haven't seen any 'messages' in any of the Ning archives I've worked with, only comments on the various Ning items.

Can you post a link to your gallery that's not advancing?

and let me get this straight
if i change the image on a profile that hasnt changed the image
that has that questionmark then the questionmarks changed for all
or wait no..your saying that those are user accounts that do not yet have a profile
so theres a chance i did somewhere change the default profile pic and just cant find it..and nit seeing it aws every one who made a profile changed thiers


of and is there a reason theres no tinymce editor on these commebts

looked at the chat while having some interesting added features its not what im looking for..instead a ning like network chat so all logged in members (unless thry log out of the chat) can chat and send instant private messages

im hoping if a few of the heavy hitter tytpe coders from ning move over we can develop 1 together

chats just a pretty important part of being social

plus its a quick easy way to contact new members who are in imediate need of help

i can find a 3rd oparty 1 but they just slow things down would prefer a built in option

kinda real surprised that noones made 1 yet

All users have a profile.
Users can manage more than one profile - They then called Power Users.
All profiles have at least one user.
This allows for, say, all band members to be able to manage their band as well as having their own profile page (the band, in this case, is also a profile.
So the band profile image would be the band logo,say, and all the associated users could have their own mug shots.

If a Jamroom page view is profile oriented, the profile image will be shown.
If a Jamroom page is user oriented, the user image is shown.

Hope that makes some sort of sense?

and yes the advance works in the popout lightbox perfectly but if instead you click any image and it oopens in the page then click the advance u go back to the beginning

i believe if im correct its because they are all coded as image.jpg

how about i take some screenshots and email them to u

sent you an emaiil but if u click any image in new images then the > it again jumps you to the start of the album and on the 1ast imatge of the album it just reloads the same image

and i think there should be a < to go back 1 except on the 1sat 1 right

if all that > does is send u to the 1st imwage and its suposedto do that im goingto display:none it and let them use the thumhbnail strip to navigate

SE maybe go to your actual site *.com (not the cPanelX), then
Go to top menu for ACP, then go to the MODULES tabs in one of those areas (try them all, not sure), and look under USERS, then USER ACCOUNTS, then go to the IMAGES tab... not sure but I think that may be it to change the default profile pic, maybe globally. I'm guessing you might have to do it for each skin style and save it custom.

that was what was logical but not where it was
i had to go to a members profile click modify..then images and thats where i found the default profile image

i knew i wasnt crazy..i knew i added 1
it just wasnt anywhere that made sence to me at the time
i must have seen it while playing with my profile the 1st day
wich i was working on it till i heard everyone heading off to school and work..so 7 or 8 am...
was a lil tired by then


strum check out the dashboard click options select the max number of rows and columns then click any empty box and see all the cool info u can add and im adssumming there will be alot more when the imports done and the site live but i love how u can monitor server loads and all kinds of stuff right from there


tho this is alil learning curve and things arent so easy as ning its far more powerful
but u gotta think that a dragster takes more skill to drive then a tricycle (although i was always a unicycle guy that was my only transportation for years andid do hundreds of miles at a time on trips by unicycle) but point is the more powerful something is the more complicated and the more skill u need /..not that you cant use it without any at all but having some idea whats going on behind the scenese will help u get the most out of it
when i 1st sawthe quotas and form builder i figured wiuldnt ever need to touch them and just use defaults but now that i have a clue what u can do with them i realize they add alotta power

not that i investigated it yet but i have a feelingu can add a location name to the form builder use that fields name in the google maps module and have a map and location to stores that have a brick and mortar store not just a virtual 1
could maybe even ..dreamming i have no idea..but build like the members maps we used to have in the profile questions they add the address and 2 checkboxes 1 to include on profile 1 to add to members maps then the google map would show the locations of all members so u canj see whos near u and whatnot

again not sure thats possible but those form feilds quotas ajnd the smarty listse and such like seemless u can build alotta customization into it

like for u i think the seemless u could have a list that shows instructors and students online based on skill levels so ppl know who to go to with questions etc (ofcourse in a small community where everyone knows eachother thats pointless just predicting for growth)

The possibilities are far beyond what Ning 2.0 or 3.0 would 'allow' us to control as their mere 'Glam minions'.
And let us not forget we no longer would have to advertise the giant coldhearted GLAM or MODE corporation (or whatever they call themselves these days) on 'OUR' sites, or have their sneaky scorecard data collecting ticks attached to our backs feasting away on our member data.

well the poweered by is on the skins ive seen by default here but isnt against the tos to remove it (i did although wouldnt mind it there suporting jr either)

that tracker script u mentions actualy part of comscotre that rates the value of yoir sites (supposedly it takes the powered by glam into consideration so being a part of such a huge network ads value) so it wsas essential to the ning ads wich neverr really got going (glam ads in the past had paid outrageously high and bloggers would earn ten grand a month off it) but thge ning adds paid sooooo low it wass worthless i tested during beta and i think i earned a whole 25 cents maybe 11 cents in the month or 2 i had it on

the problem being that there were 3 instances of the comscore tracker and they were the single most slowing things on the site
i think it was aboyt 1/4 to 1/3 of the load time was those scripts

I know what they are and why they are there. My point is it stinks- the whole FORCED GLAMMODE branding and their smarmy scorecard trackers.
I'm always happy to help promote a company that treats their customers with respect and honesty. But Glam says- You'll eat this CRAP we dish out to you as we please.. and you'll like it.

yea whenm it was ning and voluntary i was proud to leave utthere when it was forced i wasnt so happy but not as agressivly angry as some got

i mean u gotta understand the desire to promote the biz anhd grow
