solved Events calendar (notification when someone registers)

Hello all,

On the Events calendar:

Is it possible to set up 'automatic notification' (to the member who posts an event)?

I use the calendar for important meetings and classes, and it would be helpful for me to receive a notification via email OR to have it added to the Timeline (Latest Activity Stream on our Home page) whenever someone registers for an event/class.

Ideas?

Thanks,
Holly

As users can toggle the 'attending' button at will, the fact that you will get a notification every time it changes, which may not then be accurate might lead to confusion.
Maybe just set up the default 'attendee' notification and attend the event yourself. Then, when you get the notification, you can then look to see who's going?

I'll 'sit with this' for awhile, Paul.
I already have it in my head to 'attend' my own classes in order to ensure that the notification is working (already have that set up = it's a feature we'd been MISSING all these years on Ning).

My reasons for wanting the notification are many, and not likely to be the same reasons others here would have.

I'll mull this over.
Thanks,
Holly

I have still wished I were receiving these notifications automatically (even if it might mean that I receive a few from those who toggle on / off re: attendance.

Three times in recent days I have gone and checked the calendar, noted someone (or more than one) was attending, and then NOT known when that person (those persons) later changed their RSVP to not attending.

It would be helpful for me to receive all notifications on an automatic basis. So I'll repeat my question, is this something that could be automated? And if so, please guide as to how.

Thank you,
michael

It would require a custom module to alter the settings to make people who are not following something follow something. The only current option is for them to click the 'follow' button on the thing they want to follow.

I don't mind registering for the classes I list (if that's what you mean by follow?).
But events/classes/calendar listings do not have a 'follow' icon/option.

Confused by your comment, Michael. I don't think I'm asking about following something I'm not following? I'm asking about events I list. I am automatically attending that item (in my head).

From your initial post -
Quote: . . . OR to have it added to the Timeline . . .
This is actually a good idea and fits in with the new 'timeline-centric' JR6 so will be adding that to the next jrEvent release. Will that still be a solution to this issue?

We do like the added to the Timeline feature (in place now).

I can live with this and close this thread.
[but will continue with another calendar/Events question thread]

Apologies for letting this wait so long for an answer.
Thank you!
