I would like to create a process where we are not working on our live site. Ideally, we would create a clone of the live environment that we test things on, then apply them to the live. Is there a document that describes how to set that up?
-note- I have not had luck searching for them myself.

If you are on Jamroom hosting and have less than half your server space free (or temporarily switch to a larger server), you can create another (dummy) domain on your Jamroom server and then use the tools available to you in your Hosting Control Panel ( https://www.jamroom.net/(yourJR.netname)/hosting/dashboard) to copy the existing site to the new one, as long as your server has more than double the space you're already using.

another way to do it would be the "Hosting Transfer" module to a different domain on jamroom hosting if you wanted to have both the production and the dev on the same server.

this may be a dumb question, but I'm hoping the answer is yes and hoping you'll share tips/checklist on how to proceed to make it happen:

If we clone our site, is it possible to allow 'master admin' status to two members and have that status be ONLY on the cloned site, WITHOUT impacting their 'standard user' status on our 'real' site?

We have two members who have expressed interest = one in learning more about how things work behind the scenes (to be of more help to us) and one with some coding experience who would like to play with a few ideas.

Are there other options/suggestions for how to enable their behind-the-scenes access without giving them control of our 'real' site?

If you clone the site, it will make a copy of your site from that point in time only. It will be on a different domain and both domains are independent.
