Arvixe Dreadfulness

Just a quick post to say that if you're considering using Arvixe to host your Jamroom site, DON'T!

Mine has been down for TWO WEEKS now, and the customer support is non-existent. As soon as I can get back at my data, I'll be moving to Jamroom Hosting, but if you're thinking about Arvixe, stay away.

Sorry to hear this. How 'down' is your site? Can you still ftp to it? If so, our hosting has a tool to pull Jamroom sites in via ftp so you might be able to do that.

100% agree. I made a big mistake starting out trying to build a Jamroom site on and inexpensive Arvixe server that made big promises but completely slowed me down in every way. Awful- stay away from Arvixe if you can. In contrast, my past 9 months or so on the Jamroom Hosting Plan has been nothing but awesome- worth its weight in gold. :)

Very down. To be honest, we've not got Internet access on the boat at the moment so I can't try ftp, but I have no access to cPanel, or any of its functions, so I think it's unlikely.

The second it's back, I'll figure out the Jamroom Hosting transition.

Amusingly, they've offered me three free months, as if I'd consider staying! To be honest, I'd not had a problem with them until now, but looking at some forums, it sounds like they were bought out and it's been driven into the ground. Sound familiar, @Strumelia?!

Well, after three and a half weeks down, Arvixe have finally restored access. Had come to the conclusion that I'd lost the lot, but it is up and going now.

Jamroom Hosting, here I come (on pay day!)....

Cool - Once set up on our hosting there's a tool in your Hosting Control Panel where you can enter your Arvixe FTP credentials and hit the button and it will then pull the Jamroom site, in its entirity, over.

STRONGLY AGREE I also tried therm in the beginning- terrible mistake and terrible hosting. Much better to use Jamroom hosting where you get instant support and people that can quickly fix issues associated with the CMS. ( not to mention all the freebies that come with it)
