Starting with a NEW domain

Hi,

Sorry if this has been answered elsewhere. I want to register a new domain and open a hosting account. Do I register the domain first elsewhere and then change my servers over to the JAMROOM settings or is there another way I should be doing this?

Thanks in advance!

Welcome to Jamroom!

It really doesn't matter - you can register the domain at any time. Once you have it registered, then you:

- create the new domain on your Jamroom Hosting server (this can actually be done before you own the domain) - you will get a temp domain you can use for development before having to move the domain over via DNS.

- update your Nameservers at your domain registrar to point to your Jamroom Hosting server.

- go into the domain settings and make the domain the "active" domain for the Jamroom install.

Let me know if that helps or you have any followup questions.

Hope this helps!

Thanks, I hope to start on something soon. I like the idea of having a temp domain to begin with.

No problem - every domain you create gets a temp domain which gives you a nice place to get everything working before having to "go live" on the real domain, so it works out well :)

Thanks!
