Fresh Install System Check
Make sure the file is chmod'd to 755 or 700. If that does not work, try re-uploading it in binary mode.

I think SmartFTP is a significantly better FTP client than FileZilla - I think it is the best FTP client you can use on Windows.

Yeah but mine keeps having memory issues. I've used it for like 7 years now. But when I do a lot of files, the memory locks up and application crashes.
I have 32GB of memory, so I get annoyed by it. It is actually my favorite, too.
Not crazy about paying for licenses every year or 2.

That's crazy - I haven't used it in several years, but it always worked well for me. I use Yummy FTP on my Mac now and it's rock solid.
