Media URL Scanner Question

Does the Media URL Scanner module "grab" images and gifs? If a user on the site entered the URL for an image somewhere on the net, would it grab the image and put it on the server or just link to the image on the org site.

The latter - just link to the image on the org site.

I guess I could tweak the module to grab the image. What happens if the image on the external site is moved? How does JR handle the error? (I don't own the module).

Sorry - Have mislead you.
The UrlScan module will only show players and images of local (already uploaded) media. Any external links in any text will just go to that link (in a new browser tab/window).

I've just edited the module description slightly to make it clear that only uploaded media items will show a player.
