I am trying to install the Jamroom 5 Core. My Host has enabled php 5.3 for me. Initially I saw the install screen and entered the DB info but then got immidiate error messages. I tried again and now get:- CRI: unable to initialize settings - verify installation

suggest you delete it and start again.

Copy those first error messages and paste them here.

alternatively: check in
/data/logs/error_log

and
/data/logs/debug_log

for any messages.

It appears my host will not enable 'system' they say -

"I can say that we don't allow access to the "system" function, that is very insecure. Lazy programmers use that function vs using proper methods."

I tried to upload it to a VPS at another host and the install would not go ahead either for the same reason

You should either choose a host which meets the requirements for Jamroom or change to a different cms.

You should change hosting providers - "lazy" hosting providers do not know how to effectively secure their systems, and instead rely on hacks such as disabling language features.

Do you have a list of reasonably priced hosts that meet the jamroom requirements for JR5. I only want to use the Genosis module. I have JR4 running on my server at the moment for artists and will remain with this for now.

We are actually in the process of getting a "recommended hosting" system setup here, but it's not online yet. One of the first we've been working with is here:

http://www.arvixe.com/

Let me know if that helps.

Brian, I have asked arvixe if they 'comply' with the JR requirements. If they do I will open an account with them and let you know. I tried their live chat but after the initial contact I was hanging for 20 minutes, so I have emailed them.

Thanks for that - I appreciate it. I really would love to hear how it goes, as we've had a lot of hosting companies want to work with us, but we're going to be picky about who we endorse - we need to see excellent service all around.

Thanks!

I'm seeing this as well on a new install - working on it now and will let you know when it is fixed.

I just pushed out a small update to the Marketplace module (version 1.0.19) that fixes this issue with installing a free bundle - update and that should work for you now.

Let me know if you see any issues.

Thanks!

I still get the same error (after clearing my cache) I was unable to download this bundle to install manually either.

Hmm - I just installed here on a new install and don't see any issues - can you contact me at brian [at] jamroom [dot] net so I can check it out on your site?

Thanks!
