There is no stream length setting in JR5 - only if the song is for sale will it be limited.

the song is 4 sale, we had this issue before and it got fixed in a upgrade, and now it is not working again

The songs have prices, the stream length set for 45 s, and the song still plays full length when not logged in

I just tested this here and don't see an issue. Some important things to know:

- the "preview" is actually a separate file that gets created when the audio item is UPDATED and has a price set.
- changing the preview length by modifying the core scripts does not affect any existing preview files, nor does it create anything. It will only affect new preview length files going forward.

still cant get stream length to work , this is not good for selling downloads , my sight is being ripped off .I have the stream length set to 45 s and price 1.00. this bin going on for a very long time now since the beginning of JR5, this is dummy proof "set preview length 45 sec." and it don't work

You may need to modify the audio file and resave. I've tested here with both FoxyCart and PayPal, and it is working for both.

You actually should not, but I'm not sure on your system what state things are in. It's a very simple setup - basically:

- IF an Item Price is set for the audio file
- AND there is a "sample" file created for it in the profile's media directory
- THEN stream the sample file instead

It's a simple setup, and I have tested here with both PayPal and FoxyCart modules, and it is working.

So if you are seeing that it is NOT working on your site, then one of the first 2 conditions is not TRUE - either the song does not have a price set OR the sample file does not exist for that song. The sample file will be created when a song is created or modified, and a price is set.

Can you look in your data/media/1/# folder, where # is the profile ID, and verify that the sample audio track was created?

Again, I see no issue with this.

You will need to send your JR admin login and password, and FTP login and password to support [at] jamroom [dot] net so I can see what the issue is.

I sent it,"FTP login and password to support"..... how comes there is no issue and when you check the link it plays full length with price when I am not logged in , something must be wrong .I cant sell mp3's with a broken system

I just logged in to your site, clicked on "modify" for this file:

then clicked on "save" and it created the sample, and now limits to 30 seconds. I don't see any issue.

Note that I originally tested with this file:

http://dubmusic.com/the-scientist-wins-the-world-cup/audio/597/ten-dangerous-matches-part-4

But it appears that the MP3 is corrupt:

"Video can't be played because the file is corrupt" (in firefox - does not play in Chrome either).

So like I mentioned above - if the sample is not playing, you need to modify the audio item and just save it - the sample file will be created then work.

Yeah that's going to be hard to do - there's just no "fast way" yet to do this. I'll look into adding an audio tool that lets you "re convert" existing media (this would be handy if for example you also decided on a different bit rate, etc.) Shouldn't be too hard, so I'll add that to the todo and see if I can get that done sometime next week.

You server has nothing to do with this issue - for now, you will need to go in and modify and save the tracks you want to create a sample for.
