solved Master admin vs. profile admin for creating profiles - is there a difference?

Here's the scenario:

Master_admin created a profile called "HELP".
HELP is part of quota called "HELP" which has Forum and Tweaks module enabled.

When using master_admin to modify HELP profile > customize, I do not see all the options for the profile landing page in the pulldown - only activity stream.

My personal account is set to a profile admin. When I use my personal account to modify the HELP profile > customize, I see all the options (including forum) when customizing the profile landing page. I set it to FORUM and successfully SAVE it.

However when viewing HELP profile, it still shows the activity stream.

Is there a distinct difference with creating a profile using the master_admin vs. a profile admin account?

I just recently ran all the updates for my JR Site too.
I also tested in Chrome and Safari, with the same result.
Also reset caches and integrity check.

Ideas?
Thanks,
Brian

The only thing I can think of is that you never "viewed" the profile you created after you created it by the master admin.

If you remember in JR4, you had to go into artist - change artists and "select" the artist you wanted to be your active artist. We've done away with that in JR5 so whatever profile you are viewing (when logged in as an admin or master user) is your "active" profile.

The profile tweaks module has a check in it to only show modules that are allowed in the quota of the active profile. So if you never view a profile as the master, but just go directly to modify their user account and then click on the "customize" tab, you're going to still be set at whatever was the last profile you viewed.

So if you first make sure and view the profile, then click on the "modify" for that profile in the profile header, it should work.

I think there might be a way to improve this a little bit by double checking in the actual profile tweaks form, so I will check that out.

Hope this helps!

I actually just found a small bug related to this and have pushed out a new version of the Profile Tweaks. Update to the latest (1.0.4) and let me know if that looks better.

Hope this helps!

Hi! Yes, I access the profile by viewing it, then clicking update profile icon in the name box header.

Kind of odd it doesn't work...

I was able to replicate this here on Jamroom.net, and it has to do with the master admin modifying a profile that does not have an attached user account OR has more than 1 attached user account.

I just pushed out a fix in the User Profile module - update and let me know if that fixes it for you.

Hope this helps!

I'm going to assume you do not have a user account associated with that profile? I'll have to check it out tomorrow.

Thanks!

Well - it's associated w/ 2 user accounts My personal (profile admin) and the master admin account.
I used the LINK ACCOUNTs feature in Profile Tools to associate it with my personal account.

I don't have a dedicated user account for it. But that would defeat the purpose though (in my mind) of being able to associate different profiles w/ a single account. That would mean each profile needs a "home" account. Hope I'm understanding that correctly.

Chat tomorrow, thanks!

Okay this should be all fixed up now in the latest User Accounts and User Profiles module updates - update from your Marketplace and you should be set.

I ended up having to create a "user account" jumper for profiles that had more than 1 account associated with the profile so you could select which of the user accounts you wanted to be "active" in the account/settings section (this is the root of the issue you were seeing).

Hope this helps!

I see. Hmmm. Well let me run a scenario by you-

Let's say you have ABC Entertainment. UserA and UseB both sign up (say, artist accounts). These accounts are profile admins. UserA creates a profile page for ABC Entertainment. UserB given permission to manage ABC Entertainment profile.

So, one of them would have to register another separate email account and use that for a "home" account for the ABC Entertainment profile?

Seems counter intuitive? But I see what you're talking about - The profile needs an "active" account associated to it.

In my mind, I'm thinking about how "Facebook pages" operate. You can create one (say for your brand) and have the ability to assign managers to the same page.

Maybe this is not possible in JR5 but from a user standpoint that's what I am trying to "mimic" for my users.

This is not an issue - all user accounts automatically have a "home" profile created for them, so it's not something you need to worry about.

You can assign as many users to a profile as you want, or attach a single user to as many profiles as you want.

The only problem you're going to have is that a user cannot "add" another user to their profile - that currently takes an admin account.

Hope this helps!

Hello - Here's where I am with this. I deleted the other vids, so I also recapped the issue from the top, since the newest update. Thanks for watching.

Thanks for the video walk through - I can see what you're talking about, and I think I know what the issue is in the Profile Tweaks module - let me get that fixed up.

Thanks!

Well I thought I might know what the issue is, but it appears to be setup correctly - here on Jamroom.net we have almost the exact setup you outlined with your "help" profile, and I'm not seeing a problem.

I would need to get access to your site to see why it's happening - can you contact me at brian [at] jamroom [dot] net with your server info so I can check it out?

Thanks!

OK this is fixed - I actually had already fixed this a few days back but had not released the updated Profile Tweaks module to the marketplace - I've just done that and updated your site, and it looks good.

Let me know if you see any further issues.

Thanks!
