My website is www.movementunes.com. The site is suddenly down with an error saying: "ERROR: dbConnect() unable to connect to database server "10.0.11.234"
MySQL error 1045 - Access denied for user 'mzjamroom'@'72.167.131.94' (using password: YES)"

I have tried to re-enter my database info using setting.php, but the page no longer has a save button. See Here: http://movementunes.com/settings.php

Please advise.

Contact your hosting provider - your MySQL server is down.

thanks for the quick reply brian. i have spoken to godaddy and their server migrated, but it is not down. they told me there is a new "database hostname" but there is nowhere on the settings.php page for me to enter "database hostname", just "database name" and "database username." In addition, there is still no button to save the entries. See here:http://movementunes.com/settings.php

i am running jamroom 4.

I think your settings.php script is corrupted - unzip it again from the settings.zip and upload it.

You can then enter new MySQL info:

database hostname - "Server Name"
database name - "Database Name"

I have unzipped it several times and reuploaded with the same result. The settings.php file size when extracted is 12.7kb. Is that the correct file size for settings.php?

It should be a bit over 13K. I've attached it here.

And just to be sure you know that we no longer support Jamroom 4.

Hope this helps!

When I upload the settings.php file, I still get a page without the save button. See Here: http://movementunes.com/settings.php

I am at my wit's end. All I want to do is change the MYSQL info, but there is no save button.

Hard to say what the fix is, the problem is in the source code for the page, it shows:
<!--div id="help_reset_admin_ips" class="help"></div>
but that should be:
<div id="help_reset_admin_ips" class="help"></div>
or close the comment, its not closed.

Another problem probably related is that your using an older version of JR4 ( Jamroom 4.2.4 ) so that might have been fixed in a newer version, I don't know.

You can try this version, it might work. Failing that look in the
/config

directory for config.php and update your details directly there.

Ok, the new zip file you sent, worked to give a page with a "modify settings" and "undo" button. See here: http://movementunes.com/settings.php.

However, when I enter the new info, filling out all the server info and leaving the bottom section where it says admin login and passwords blank, then I click "Modify Settings" I keep getting get this page: http://movementunes.com/settings.php?mode=do_change where it says "No Data Received" and "Unable to load the webpage because the server sent no data. Reload this webpage. Press the reload button to resubmit the data needed to load the page."

Please advise.

Try the other way then, adjust the details in:
/config/config.php

In my config folder, there is no config.php file. only bad_words.cfg.php, bbcode.cfg.php, decoder.cfg.php, index.html, language.cfg.php, location.txt, settings.cfg.php, and smiley.cfg.php.

I looked at the settings.cfg.php file and did not see any entries for database info.

Please advise.

The file is called:
/config/settings.cfg.php

JR4 is very old now, please upgrade to JR5 as that is what is supported.

--edit--
actually that's not going to do it either. Its so long since I've used this script that I don't remember how things work.

--edit edit--
Suggest upgrading to the most up-to-date version of JR4 which can be dpwnloaded from here:
http://archive.jamroom.net/Downloads4_Core

That should have the fix for the settings script which seams to have issues. You are running 4.2.4 and the last version of JR4 was 4.3.31

Once that is up and running again, upgrade to JR5

Greetings Michael,

Thank you for your response. I am planning to upgrade tp JR5, however, since I have a custom skin, it will cost me some money to have the skin redesigned to fit JR5. I planned to do that in a few months.

All I need is to be able to enter my new database info since godaddy migrated servers. As you can see from my homepage address error notice (www.movementunes.com), it is a database address error.

If I upgrade to JR4.3.31, will my custom skin present a problem? Can I just get the config/php file from 4.3.31 and simply insert it into my 4.2.4 config folder?

Again, all I want to do is enter my new database address as my settings.php page is not allowing new database info to be saved.

Upgrading should not effect your skin as long as you've renamed it to something other than the default JR4 skins. If you haven't, don't upload the skins templates (if there are any) from the latest version.

I don't believe you'll be able to use the settings.php file from 4.3.1 in your 4.2.4 install.

Hope this helps!

I have $50 for anyone who can upload 4.3.1 correctly so I can keep my custom skin and enter my new database info.

I am looking at the 4.3.1 downloads and I am seeing that I would have to pay for the upgrade from 4.2.4? Is this correct?
