multiple sites

I plan to have around 1 million jamroom sites (give or take). It's so much fun. I've purchased a few jr4 licenses, but I only ever used one login to jamroom.net, through which I've purchased the jr5 superpack and several additional modules. Now I'm adding more sites. Should I create additional jamroom.net accounts to purchase modules for these sites? Basically, how do I proceed to conquer the world?

A million JR sites would be cool ;-)
Not sure how of if we're set up yet to handle multiple licence purchases. Brian will have to clarify, but I'm sure we can accommodate your plans for world domination !!

If it was me I would create a different account for each site - I think that just keeps things more organized (in my opinion) - however, the licensing setup here should be able to work with many sites under 1 account - basically each "paid" license gets you 2 installs, so if you purchase a module 2 times you would get to install it on 4 unique domains.

So it should work, but might be easier to keep track of with different accounts - that's up to you.

Hope this helps!

I've been playing around with a few different sites where I've loaded the superpack. I want to set them up properly so I've updated them to 5.1.4 core and set up another jamroom.net account and configured the marketplace. How do I pay and assign licenses to 2 installs?

You just enter the new Jamroom.net account info (email and system id) in the Marketplace -> Tools -> Marketplace Systems section.

Hope this helps!

I've done that, but the problem I'm having is that I have modules from the superpack already installed so they aren't available to purchase. The marketplace simply lists them as having no license, which is correct (I've used the license already), but I'd like to license them now. I'm probably using the youtube and a couple more modules for these sites. Can I just delete all the superpack modules without harming the youtube and other data I've added? Then purchase them through the marketplace?

Should I use one jamroom.net account per two websites? How do I mix and match module licenses on 2 sites?

Thank you ladies and gents -- I'll be here all week.

Let me make sure I understand it properly - you install some superpack items outside of the marketplace (i.e. you uploaded them via FTP) and so now in the marketplace it says "no license" and there's no option to purchase it?

Let me know if that is right...

Thanks!

This really points out a shortcoming in the current Marketplace module I need to address, so I will get that fixed up so you can purchase instead of it just telling you that you don't have a license (which frankly isn't of much help).

For now, the easiest way would be to remove those modules from your system, then purchase and install them under the new account - your data will be fine since removing the modules does not delete any of the DB or filesystem data (although as usual I would recommend a backup just to be safe).

Let me know if that works.

Thanks!

OK. I've started doing that. I have 4 or 5 sites I'm wanting to configure at the moment. The 2-site license makes it interesting, shall we say, for a website developer wanting to deploy jr5 on a million different sites. Give or take.

To give you an idea from my perspective...

I currently have one "main site" under the jamroom.net account blindmime where I purchased the superpack during the initial rollout of 5.0. I installed the modules in the main site and as I was getting ideas for using jr5 for other sites I'm playing around with I tried the modules on them as well. Now after getting a feel for it and moving on to 5.1 and the Marketplace beta and so on, I'm trying to organize things properly.

So I had attached a 2nd site and then a 3rd site to the blindmime system id. The 2nd site received the 2nd licenses OK, but the 3rd site did not (which is how the 2-license system is meant to work I think). However the 2nd site really only needs the Youtube module, maybe one or two others. The 3rd site needs this or that, other sites will need their own set.

So I released all the modules from the 2nd site and now it's gone from the blindmime account, but the 3rd site hasn't taken on the licenses vacated by the 2nd site and I see no method to assign those licenses.

The "main site" also doesn't really need all the superpack modules, but if I release them, I'm not sure how I assign them to other sites.

I'm thinking it might be nice to have ALL my current and future domains all under the blindmime system id and be able to assign licenses from jamroom.net to them, and then have them appear in their individual site Marketplaces for installation and updates. So you might have a tab in your jamroom.net account that is module-centric for one system ID where you see all the modules you've purchased, how many licenses you have of each one and to which sites you've assigned them. And you can release them and re-assign them as needed, like when you kill a site or re-purpose it, etc.

Anyway, just sort of thinking how it might work for a website developer who wants to deploy jr5 on a million different sites.

I think it already works how you want it to.

You need to delete the modules from the first site to free the license, it then becomes available to install on the third site. You can install the module using the free license from the marketplace as long as the site you are installing on uses the same marketplace id.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Education, learning resources, TEL, AR/VR/MR, CC licensed content, panoramas, interactive narrative, sectional modules (like jrDocs), lunch at Uni of Bristol. Get in touch if you share my current interests or can suggest better :)

When logged in to your licenses section, you should see an entry for "not installed on any active system" - that's where licenses will be that you own, but have to been installed anywhere. So once you "release" a module that is where it will show up.

Let me know if that helps.

Thanks!

When would Brian's suggestion to create separate jamroom.net accounts for each site make better sense? I started down that route, but it doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

Indeed, as Brian stated in the beginning and as Steve reiterated, you can just load up sites into one account and gobble up licenses until you have to pay for more to gobble up. And you can release them if you don't need them so more sites down the line can gobble them up.

Think I'm all straight now. It's an evil plan, I'm sure. But I'm having too much to care.

If there's no chance you are ever going to have to "hand over" one of those sites to another user (i.e. they are all your sites and in your control), then there's no reason to use different accounts.

My experience on the licensing side though is that sites change hands - they move between owners, and in that situation it's really nice to have everything in an account specific to the domain.

Whatever works for you :)

Hope this helps!

I thought this was working yesterday, but it's not working today. I have modules which I've purchased which show up in the unassigned list at jamroom.net, yet do not show that I have a license in the site's marketplace. Some do , some don't. For instance, I purchased Profile Tweaks today and installed it on one site, but it doesn't show as being available in any other site's marketplace, regardless of Core version. Another instance, File Downloads shows as being available to one site (5.1.4) and not another (5.1.5). Other modules' availability are similar.

And they are in the "not assigned to any domain" section of your licenses? I made some tweaks yesterday for the 5.1.5 release to address the "no license" message that would come up in the system update section - I have a feeling that is related, so let me check it out.

Okay this should be fixed now - reload the Marketplace module from the Marketplace -> Tools -> Reload Modules and Skins section and it should work.

Hope this helps!
