solved Multiple Sites Modules Question

I had a couple of questions about the purchasing modules for sites.

1. It's my understanding that each module purchased is only allowed to be used on one install? So, without the top level subscription here, an owner will have to purchase the modules again for each site running JR.

2. I've only installed my JR license on a local machine. I have a license for the modules converted over from JR4. I'm a little confused about how to purchase the module again if I need it for another site. If someone wasn't going to go with a subscription option for unlimited modules, would they have to have a separate user on this site for each install?

3. If a person who has the VIP Unlimited - would they have to use the same email cred in each site they installed?

4. Local machine - if I wanted to have multiple local testing machines running JR would I be able to use my license (non-VIP unlimited) with all the purchased modules multiple times / multiple installs?

Even though I'm going to purchase the VIP Unlimited Membership, I found it confusing how the modules are linked to the license. I'm assuming that if someone wanted to purchase every module for each license (even though that would be kinda stupid because the cost is so low for the VIP membership) they would have to setup a new user here for each license so they could purchase the modules again.

Maybe I'm totally confused??

Actually the JCL (the Jamroom Commercial License) allows for install on up to 2 sites - this is so you can run one on your "live" site, and also run one on a dev/staging site.


Do you mean JR5? We no longer sell JR4 items. If you need to purchase for another site, you can just buy it again when it shows "purchase" in the marketplace. If you see "you already have a license for this item" it means you have not hit the limit of 2 (or 4, 6, 8, etc) for that module and can freely install it.


Yep - it is tied to their unique email address + license system ID.


Yeah you could - but if you wanted to update them via the Marketplace you'd get a "invalid license" if the module was already installed on 2 systems, and you were NOT in the VIP unlimited quota.


Yeah I think there's some confusion - there's no need to create separate accounts to go beyond 2 sites - you can just purchase it again and it will up your allowed install number to 4, 6, 8, etc.

You might WANT to create more than 1 account here if you need to keep licenses separate (say for different clients that want to purchase licenses through you).

Thanks. I think my confusion lies on this site vs. the marketplace of the script. There isn't an option to purchase the modules again on this site once its been purchased, it only shows that it has already been purchased... where as in the marketplace of the installed site it would show me needing to purchase it again.

I mentioned JR4 because at this point everything I own came over from JR4 and what I purchase then - with the addition of your $99 package special you ran when you were switching from JR4 to JR5.

Thinking about it, I would have rather taken a 1 or 2 year VIP membership than spending the money for the upgrade script to begin with. Maybe you guys would consider a discount for long time members of JR? Though, I totally understand that you've got to make money and pay the bills.
