i know its a server notscript issue but was hoping youd have some insights

1st time i ran my sitemap crawler at a high rate..finished 800k pages in 38 hours (ning would ip ban if i went above 200k in 48 hours)
i had zero errors

after some mysql tweaks anbd a couple other cjhanges i get a whole lot of 500 errors while running the crawler at 1/4 the speed

Is this a Ning-specific question?

There is a forum specifically for server configuration and installation questions and there might be other resources there that could provide you with answers.

I have started searching for answers and asking some questions in the other forums that are not specifically related to the Ning migration, general template and skin customization issues, for example.

Just a thought.

sometimes im not sure if it could be ning specific though ..probably not in this case ..but with how glitchy ning is i always suspect ning data of being the cause of every evil

It's not clear to me what the issue is here, or even what "question" is being asked. I don't see anything Jamroom related in the code you have posted above...

well the router script seems to end before output headers are sent ..alot and i think thats where the 500 errors are comingin but cant be sure

in the server error log there are a whole lot of those router script ended before output headers sent messages some with a referal url after the $ (that didnt copy)
some without

I'm not aware of any issues with it (we would see it here pretty quickly) so just double check the script is not corrupt, and that you've not enabled output_buffering in your php.ini.

Clay has a good point. New people will be coming to the Ning-to-Jamroom forum...seeing stuff like this sure would scare ME off. SE maybe you have 'graduated' at this point.

Actually, not.

MOST ex-Ningsters -- and I am one of those -- will go with a cPanel or similar "managed" hosting solution specifically because they don't want to deal with the arcana of LAMP configs and such. It's one of the reasons why they went with Ning in the first place rather than building something from scratch in Jomsocial or similar.

$100 month (say) for managed hosting is less than what my base consulting rate is. If I spend 1 hour a month on server management it's worth it to me to pay someone else to manage the server. Arvixe is adequate for my needs now but I am very much looking to moving my JR installation to something desinged for JR hosting and let someone else do the server management rather than moving JR to a generic VPS and managing the server on my own.
