Want to Upgrade to Jamroom 5

I am running Jamroom 4.0.13 and it is stable and working fine. I'd like to upgrade to Jamroom 5 but the task seems a little daunting. I don't care about the ecommerce module. That can go away for now.
Will all of the video, audio and site visit stats transfer?
Will my FLV videos be converted to HTML 5 video?

Thanks!

Yes

Yes

We can install Jamroom5 and do the import for you - https://www.jamroom.net/the-jamroom-network/serviceshop
Also note that you'll need certain Jamroom5 modules to receive the imported Jamroom4 data. The SuperPack is the most cost effective way to purchase all you'll need (and more) - https://www.jamroom.net/the-jamroom-network/bundle/9/super-pack
For an existing Jamroom4 licence holder we offer $50 off that price.
Below is what I send to all JR4/5 Upgrade customers. It'll give you an idea of what is needed, and what is, and isn't imported.

Below is a list of requirements, options and caveats you need to be aware of when importing. Please respond to all of them -

We'll need your Jamroom4 site URL and admin username and password, and FTP access to your Jamroom4 site.

We'll need your Jamroom5 site URL and admin username and password, and FTP access to your Jamroom5 site

Artist Prune (Yes/No)
If a Jamroom4 artist profile has not created any songs, videos, blogs etc., this will prevent the JR5 profile (and associated user) from being created.

Member Prune (Yes/No)
If a Jamroom4 member profile has not created any images, blogs etc., this will prevent the JR5 profile (and associated user) from being created.

No Image Prune (Yes/No)
If a Jamroom4 profile has not uploaded a profile image, this will prevent the JR5 profile (and associated user) from being created. NOTE that if set and a profile has no image, none of the profile's items (songs, videos etc.) will be imported.

We will also replicate the Jamroom4 quota structure on the Jamroom5 site, but all features will be enabled for all quotas. After import you will need to configure the Jamroom5 quotas as required.
Please advise if an alternative quota structure is needed for the Jamroom5 site and how the Jamroom4 quotas are to be migrated to it.

Note that when importing all Jamroom4 media files and images etc. are duplicated so there needs to be sufficient free disk space on the target Jamroom5 site.

Also note that if you are using the Jamroom4 Payment Pack, the Jamroom5 equivalent uses FoxyCart which is a subscription service.

Imports can take several days to complete, dependant upon the size of the Jamroom4 site, during which time your Jamroom4 site will be in maintenance mode. Another factor of the time taken is the performance of your target Jamroom5 server. Converting all imported media files is very intensive and in some instances, too much for some 'shared' servers. Jamroom5, and the import process, works best on dedicated servers.

Jamroom4 and Jamroom5 systems are completely different and not 100% compatible. Not all Jamroom4 item data may be imported or be immediately visible in the Jamroom5 system. jrImport will import Jamroom4 items to compatible Jamroom5 modules, not necessarily equivalent, eg. Channels and Stations are converted to Playlists. Not all Jamroom4 media files are used by Jamroom5, eg. Playlists have no associated image, so Jamroom4 Channel and Station images are lost. Also, Jamroom4 user images are not imported, but copied from the Jamroom5 Profile image.

Jamroom4 song and video items for sale as vault items will have their price set in Jamroom5, but be aware that the download file upon sale is the original media file, not the optionally uploaded Jamroom4 vault file.
Store, photo and event (tickets) Jamroom4 vault items are not imported. Other Jamroom4 vault items are imported to the jrFile module and sold from there.

No Jamroom4 sales history is imported. No Jamroom4 activity or error logs are imported.

This is great info. So would I need to buy...
Guaranteed Installation
Jamroom 4 to 5 Import - up to 25 Gigs
Super Pack

Would you recommend starting the JR5 install on a new site on the server or would you install it at the same domain as the old site? I'd kind of like to test and tweak the new site before it goes live.

If you have enough space on your existing server, at least 3x what Jamroom4 is using now, say, install JR5 into its own folder and tweak away. It can then easily be moved into the current JR4 location when you are ready.
Remember that you can install and upgrade yourself (the jrImport module is free) so that you'll only need to buy the SuperPack.
Alternatively, get a new server at Arvixe - https://www.jamroom.net/the-jamroom-network/forum/jamroom-hosting/11446/jamroom-recommended-hosting (click on the link) and get JR5 pre-installed there, or use their 'one-click' installation service.
