GEDCOM Will Not Import

I have successfully installed Genosis on a subdomain on my webserver. I saw the message about the Plug-in. So, as I am just testing the system, decided NOT to install the plug-in, or to check the box to install any graphics. Then I got a fresh GEDCOM from myheritage.com and selected not to download any images. When I tried to install the GEDCOM into a Blank Family Tree inside of Genosis, the system would begin the process to the point that it reported the GEDCOM was 5 Gigs. Then it stops. I checked my My MySQL Database and All privileges have been given. I am attaching the GEDCOM to this communication.

Thanks for posting the GEDCOM file - I will check it out and see if I can spot what's up. I see it's only 1.4mb - I have no idea why it shows "5 Gigs" - that's not right.

Thanks!

I had no problems importing your GEDCOM file - it all worked as it should. Make sure when you are importing that you UNCHECK the options:

Import Media
Save Media Space
Sync Profiles

Those options are for importing a GEDCOM file that has been exported from another Genosis site. If that still does not work, the I suspect your hosting provider has "locked down" the amount of memory a single PHP process can consume - importing GEDCOM can take up quite a bit of memory. So contact them and see if they can tell you if they have locked down the PHP memory or file access.

Let me know if that helps.

Thanks!

I'll make sure all of these are un checked and try again. Thanks for the help. On a side note, just started to work on Badges for Veterans. I think our society will really like this system. http://treasurecoastgenealogicalsociety.org

Well, I tried again, no success. I ran various system CKs. Attached is a screen shot of one that may help.

I tried a smaller file thinking maybe that would help. Attached is a screenshot of the Import Window as I had it set, with failure message.

OK you're not even making it to the actual import process - that is just the file upload. Make sure the jamroom_dir/data/cache directory (and sub directories) are writable by the web user - that is where the file is uploaded and temp stored.

Let me know if that helps.

I went to that directory and allowed Full Permissions on the cache folder and all folders within. I did not change the index file or files within these folders. I went back and tried an import with no luck. I did a cache cleanup. Still NG. Then I did another System CK and reviewed. Attached is the System CK Report. Please note the notes in the "Systems Tools" section at the bottom. None of those modules are working correctly.

Make sure you have the System Tools module installed.

Hello Douglas: System Tools is installed. In fact I get the message that it comes with the install and cannot be removed (See Attached)

I think, however, that System Tools is not working based on the System Report (See Attached)

So, stepping out on my own, I thought maybe System Tools needed more configuration the just "systemtools" in the URL line. I typed in the full URL of the location and got the error message attached.

yeah that is not correct - you can leave that setting alone.

The problem here is that the binary tools cannot be executed on your web hosting account - you need to contact your hosting provider and make sure they allow the binary tools in modules/jrSystemTools/tools to be run under the web server. Some hosting providers do not allow this.

If you continue to have hosting issues you might think about Jamroom Hosting:

https://www.jamroom.net/hosting

Everything will run 100% under our hosting. Otherwise hopefully your hosting provider can assist you.

Let me know if that helps.

Me again Brian. Anyways, I'm on the line with my hosting people. While on hold, I noticed the path to System Tools is:
http://trees.treasurecoastgenealogicalsociety.org/modules/jrSystemTools
Should we still not change the URL from systemtools to maybe jrSystemTools?

Yes that is not correct - it should just be:

systemtools
