Hello! There have been times when I have deleted profiles, but when I upload another gedcom, that profile ID number will be assigned to a new ancestor, but with the deleted ancestors events and family. I have had to do a lot of tidying up ... what am I doing wrong? Thanks! Lisa

See Paul's response here:

and that should hopefully clear it up.

Thanks!

Gracious! Not sure why they post ended up twice? I figured once the number is deleted it is unusable. But as to the second part of the question - then why if I upload new people from a gedcom does it takes information from the deleted ID and add it to the new one? I have to add everything manually and can no longer use the gedcom feature because of this. I find people born 48 years ago attached as the spouse of someone born 148 years ago. And the information for the 48 year old and the 148 year is mixed in the timeline. I cannot pinpoint an example as I am cleaning them up as I go along, but I wonder what I am doing wrong that is happening? Thanks!

I'm not quite sure I understand the issue - let me make sure I understand correctly:

- you move some profiles to a NEW tree
- you import a GEDCOM into the OLD tree that they used to be in
- it's somehow "merging" data between the imported GEDCOM profile and the profile that was moved to the new tree?

Does that sound correct?

Thanks!
