When I merge a small family tree into the main tree, what do I click to keep the family members in the small family tree so I can continue to work? I moved the Benson tree into the main one and now the Benson tree is empty of any family members... they are all in the main tree. Thanks! Lisa

Yeah that is correct - "merging" basically updates the profile's in the tree you are merging and updates their "tree ID" so it is the new tree - this has the effect of removing them from the tree you are merging.

It sounds like you're looking for a "copy the profiles in this tree INTO the other tree" - is that correct?

Thanks!

Yes! I want the Benson's to stay put in their tree, but still have them remain part of the larger tree as their profiles are updated! Is this possible? ~ Lisa

Yeah - it's possible, just not coded yet ;)

What I can do is add a checkbox in the merge trees dialog to the effect of "sync profiles" (or whatever) that instead of moving will copy. Might take a little bit of work, but I can add that to my todo list for a future update.

Hope this helps!

Purrrfect! I wasn't sure if I was missing something. So, to add people to the main tree it is best to just upload the .gedcom until further notice. Got it! :-)

Yeah - the GEDCOM has the "sync profiles" option, so it will update existing profiles with new info when you import.
