I decided not to Gedcom a family and upload them individually to get a feel for this wonderful program! I clicked "new person" while in one tree, and it immediately took me to different tree! What did I do? :-) ~ Lisa

What you have is a profile centric system. Each user has a profile.

If you take a look at the example version:
http://johnsonfamily.talldude.net/

You will see
* Mary Eastman 1798 - 1872
* Jeremy Adams 1605 - 1683
....etc

down the right. each of those people has their own profile.

Mary's is here http://johnsonfamily.talldude.net/mary-eastman-3177

and Jeremy's is here:
http://johnsonfamily.talldude.net/jeremy-adams-3028

Then all their stuff is under their profile. So if there were some images of Jeremy, they would be here:
http://johnsonfamily.talldude.net/jeremy-adams-3028/gallery

and some stories of jeremy would be here:
http://johnsonfamily.talldude.net/jeremy-adams-3028/genstory

and his tree is viewed by clicking the "View Tree" tab on his profile.

So whenever you add a person, they also get a profile.

--update--

If you want to navigate around the tree instead of view the profile, use the small target icon and the magnifying glass icon on the tree.

Can you let me know where you click on "new person" at? When adding a new ancestor to your tree, click on one of the "add new.." links when viewing the profile of an ancestor you want to create a new relationship to - i.e. click on "add new parent" in the relationship section on the left hand side of an ancestor profile.

Let me know if that helps.

Hello! I was in the Flewelling tree to add a new person, and it took me to the Lapan tree and added two other people as his parents. I was able to move him to his Flewelling tree, and then deleted the folks who were not his parents. :-) ~ Lisa

Yeah it shouldn't change trees on you - if you can let me know exactly what order you clicked things in I'd like to check it out. I'm not aware of any way for it to automatically add 2 people as well, so something strange is going on there...

Thanks!

Do you have access to my tree? I created a new tree called the Flewelling Family. I clicked the plus sign to add a new person. That took me to the Lapan Family tree and had Harriet Abare and Richard Lapan as his parents. ~ Lisa

Where is the plus sign you are clicking on? I have a feeling that is something coming through from the Jamroom 5 install underneath, and may not work properly with Genosis (but I need to know where the plus sign is showing - i.e. what page).

Thanks!

I just created a new tree called the Ross Family. There is a plus sign there --- no wait --- a question mark --- with the words "new person" there. I click on the words "new person" and it takes me to a different family. ~ Lisa

OK got it. So when you create a new tree, it creates a "New Person" for you by default. You can click on that user and modify them, and think of them as the "starting point" in your new tree (like the "home" person on Ancestry.com if you are familiar with that).

I just tested this here, and it looks like the issue is related to the "researcher only" option - so there's a bug there and I will get it fixed.

Thanks!

I have this fixed for the next Genosis Core release - root cause was actually the Profile URL was not including the profile id on the URL, so it would find the "New Person" from your earliest "new tree" and switch to that instead.

I will try to get a new Core release out tomorrow morning - I'm still in the middle of changes for this ticket:

http://www.genosisfamily.com/tracker/778/get-hard-coded-english-strings-into-the-language-file

so don't have it ready for release yet, and I'm going to be out of the office for the rest of the day today.

For now, if you go in and Modify the "New Person" and change their profile name one at a time for your new trees, it should work properly (i.e. when you click on the New Person it will take you first to the oldest "New Person" - modify it, save, then go back to your newest tree and click on 'New Person' again, modify, save, and so on and eventually you'll get to your newest tree and then each "New Person" now has a unique URL).

Hope this helps!

The bug where the tree name was changing when you went to modify the "New Person" has been fixed in the latest updates - let me know if you see any issues.

Thanks!
