Question about modify person

Hello,

First of all, i really like your work. I have been searching a way to make a web site for my family and yours is definetly the best!

I need your help about the following topic,

When i change a person's birth date from the "modify person" page, it erases the data of mother and father on timeline page. Even worse it also changes mother and father's birth date to that person's birth date.

I just wanted to know if i am making a mistake somewhere or is ist because of the codes?

Welcome to the forum!

You know - you're the second person who has reported this issue, so there is definitely something going on - I've not however been able to replicate it on my test site.

Let me know if this sounds correct:

1) You go into "Modify Person" by clicking on the gear icon in their profile header
2) you change just the Birth Date on that person and save
3) After your save it has erased the "Birth of Child" events in BOTH the mother and father's timeline
4) It has also changed BOTH the mother and father's birth date to the NEW date you entered in Modify Person in step 1.

Let me know if that is correct and I will get it figured out.

When you go to mother's or father's profile page you can see their own correct birth dates on the profile header but when you go to the modify page of mother or the father you see the child's birth date (the dat you entered in step one)

Yep - I actually just saw this on a old test install I have that has multiple trees - quick followup question - do you have multiple trees in Genosis that might have overlapping profile names?

And i just created a new family tree and add a new person, father and mother. When i tried to change child's birth day from modify person page (the gear icon) it happened the same thing.

OK thanks - that helps me narrow it down as the section of code that synchronizes the events is quite large, and that eliminate about half of it

I'm working on this now and will get it fixed ASAP - for now hold off on updating any birth dates so it doesn't mess up too much.

I have just updated the Marketplace with version 1.3.1 of the Genosis Core - go into your ACP -> Marketplace -> System Updates and update to that new version, and this should be fixed.

Sorry again for that messing things up!

I just make a clean setup to make sure.
Changing parent's birth date issue fixed but modifying person deletes Birth of Child event from mother and father's timeline.

I just tested this and I'm not seeing this - when you say "modifying person" are you changing any of the data?

OK - I had overlooked an additional sync that was happening below - I've updated that and pushed out an updated 1.3.1 - go into your Marketplace -> Tools -> Reload modules and skins and "reload" the Genosis Core - that should fix it now.

But when you update child's birth event it's showing on parent's timeline. Like i said it's not important i can check it when i add a new person.

So the child already exists, and updating to ad the birthday is not creating the event in the parents timeline?

I click add a new child link and only type a name and saved it. Nothing showed up on parent's timeline i think thats becasue chlid hasn't a birth date. So i went to child profile clicked to gear icon and entered the birth day. But nothing showed on parent's timeline. Entering birth day to a profile doesn't create birth of child event.

OK this should be fixed in Genosis Core 1.3.2 - I just pushed out the update, so update to that and let me know if you see any issues.

Just an update that I made good progress on this so far - I just have to work out how to properly handle month names in the Timeline, and should have these updates out for you early this coming week.

Just an update that things should look a lot better in the new releases from today. You should be able to go into the "Language" tab for the Genosis modules and update the lang strings for your custom language.

I should add too, make sure you are doing it correctly by first "Cloning" the existing English language and then translate your cloned language:

ACP -> User Accounts -> Tools -> Clone a Language

That way you can have both English and your custom language supported at the same time.

Actually i copied and edited the en-EN.php files in each lang directory, transleted and reneamed them for my language before. So i am translating new lines now. I hope it will be the same thing as cloning language

Yeah - that should work, but when you update the modules those files will no longer be present, but the translated strings will remain in the core once loaded.

I've pushed another round of updates today that should address the issues you contacted me about via Email. The only one I could not replicate is the tree name not showing correctly - I used your exact tree name and saw no issues here.

Please update and let me know if you see any additional issues.
